Laura is 16 Years of age and she has been involved in athletics since 2010.
She began her career in the under 13 age group. This coming season she will be competing in her second and final season in the under 17’s.
The 2014 Outdoor Season at Kingston upon Hull Athletic Clubs begins with the ‘Spring Open Meeting’, which will be held at the Costello Stadium, Hull, on Sunday 13th April 2014.
Laura specialises in the throwing events and is proficient in the Discus, Shot and Javelin. She competes for the club in the UK Youth Development League and the Humberside League, in all of these disciplines.
She was chosen to represent Humberside in the Discus Throw at the English Schools Championships at Alexander Stadium, Birmingham in July 2013. She competed in the final where she attained 6th position.
She won the Gold Medal in the Shot Putt Competition and the Silver Medal in the Discus Throw at the 2013 Humberside Championships.
At the 2013 Northern Athletics Championships, at Wavertree Stadium, Liverpool, Laura competed in the Discus Throw and the Shot Putt. She went on to win the Bronze Medal in the Discus and finished in 4Th place in the Shot Putt.
Laura, like all of the committed athletes at the club, has been training hard, since the end of the 2013 season, and is eagerly anticipating the start of the new one.
Her main ambitions for the coming season are:-
To earn selection to compete at the English Schools Championships .
To attain the qualifying standard, in order to compete at England Athletics Under 17 Championships.
To earn selection for the Northern England Team to compete at the UK School Games.
To compete, at the Northern Championships.
And of course to improve on her previous Championship Performances, and to set new personal bests in all of her events.
