Kingston upon Hull Athletic Club

Northern Senior League   Division 1

Costello Stadium, Hull Sunday 4th May 2014

The opening fixture of the season, in Northern Senior League Division 1 was held at Costello Stadium, on Sunday 4th May.

It was hosted by Kingston upon Hull and the other teams competing were:-

City of Manchester Athletic Club – Wakefield Harriers –Preston Harriers – Derby Athletic Club and Blackburn Harriers.

Kingston upon Hull and Derby Athletic Clubs tied on the day for first place, each having amassed 347 points. The result was changed a couple of days later and we were relegated to 3rd place.

The competition was intense and there were some enthralling contests in every part of the track and field.

Some of our younger athletes made their debuts in the Senior League and every one of them gave their very best efforts and they were a credit to the club.

The performance of the team as a whole was simply outstanding. It was greatly appreciated by everyone connected with our club.

Every athlete out there was giving 100% to the clubs cause. But a special mention must go to Dan Holiday. He was running in second place in the 400 metre hurdles when he clipped a hurdle and fell. He got back to his feet and managed to finish the race still in second place. He epitomised the strength of character and ability which runs through the athletes at this club.
