Northern Road Relay Championships

Kingston upon Hull Athletic Club took two teams to compete at the annual Northern Road Relay Championships at Birchwood near Warrington.
The first to compete were the Under17 Boys team. With each athlete racing a leg of 3300 metres.
Shaun Smith ran the first leg and he finished his leg in 18th position and in a time of 11.15s.
Shaun handed over to Jack Brothwell on leg 2 and he completed his leg in a time of 12.21s. He handed over in 23rd place..
Marcel Dalee brought the team home in 22nd position in a time of 11.37s. A total combined time of 35.13s.
Four members of our Under 20’s team gave a most youthful look to our senior men’s team. They competed in a race comprising of 6 x 6000 metres legs.
Harry Powell ran the first leg and set the team off well, running our teams fastest leg in a time of 20.22s. He finished his run in 37th position.
Harry then handed over to Josh Taylor-Brown on leg 2. Josh who picked up an injury finished in 62nd place with a time of 22.45s.
Andrew Hess ran the third leg recording a time of 21.37s.Which moved the team up to 53rd position.
Gregan Clarkson the only senior runner in the team ran the 4th leg in a time of 20.55s.which moved the team up to 44th place before handing over to Oliver Newton on leg 5.
Oliver completed his leg in a time of 22.06 and he finished in 45th position.
Sadly, like several other teams, we could only muster five runners.
We did however have the honour of being the fastest incomplete team in the race coming home in a combined time of 1:27.45s.after the 5 legs.
