South Yorkshire Indoor Series

The indoor series is an annual event which is held at the impressive English Institute of Sports indoor stadium in Sheffield.
The competition consists of four meetings, which take place during November of 2014 and February and March of 2015. The athletes compete in 3 events at each meeting. Points are awarded for times achieved on the track and distances in the field events.
At the conclusion of the competition, which will be on the 8th of March 2015, gold, silver and bronze medals will be awarded accordingly.
Two of our up and coming athletes contested in the under 13 Boy’s competition at the first meeting of this season, on Sunday 2nd November. Both of the boys are great competitors and have been eagerly awaiting the start of this series of competitions.
Connor Pickering is in his third season at our club and is competing in his second South Yorkshire indoor series. He was the bronze medallist at the 2013/2014 event and he is hoping to improve on that position.
Fabian Vidal is in his second season with Kingston and he is making his debut appearance in this competition.
Connor’s events on the day were the 60 metres sprint, long jump and shot putt. Details of his performances are as follows:-
60 metres sprint he was placed 16th out of the 25 competitors in the race and he recorded a time of 9.86s.
Long Jump he was placed 10th out of 35 competitors and set a new PB of 3.97m
Shot Putt he claimed 4th place out of 18 entrants and set another new PB of 5.97m
Fabian contested the 60 metres and the 200 metres sprints and also the long jump
60 metres sprint he finished 21st out of 25 entrants and recorded a time of 10.16s
200 metres sprint he was again placed 21st out of 25 competitors and he also recorded a new PB of 33.03s
Long Jump he was placed 16th out of 35 and his best jump was one of 3.60m
The next round of the competition will take place at the EIS Stadium on Sunday 23rd of November 2014.
