Sheffield ‘Open’ Cross Country Meeting
Saturday 27th December 2014
Two of Kingston upon Hull Athletic Club’s athletes, took part in the ‘open’ cross country meeting, which was held in Graves Park, Sheffield on Saturday 27th of December 2014.
Severe weather had struck the Sheffield area during Friday evening and the early hours of Saturday morning. Up to 8 inches of snow had fallen overnight and the Graves Park area had been transformed into a winter wonderland.
All of the races went ahead as planned over the cold and snowbound course.
Jack Brothwell one of our outstanding young middle distance runners, competed in the 5000 metres race for Under 17 men.
He took 2nd place in the race and he ran a time of 22.32s.
Daniel Chadwick is 11 years old and he joined our junior training group in September 2014. This meeting saw Daniel’s debut as a competitive athlete. He ran in the 2500 metres race, in the tough and challenging conditions, where he took 3rd place and recorded a time of 14.44s.
This was a superb effort from Daniel and he thoroughly enjoyed himself as well.
