Northern Indoor Championships

Nine of our senior athletes represented the club at the Northern Indoor Championships, which were held at the English Institute of Sport Stadium in Sheffield.
Five of them competed in the finals of their events and they brought home with them one gold, one silver and one bronze medal.
Annabelle Lewis, the 2013 World Championship’s bronze medallist once more donned her Kingston vest and competed in the women’s 60 metres race. She won the gold medal and clocked a time 7.39s, half a second ahead of her nearest challenger.
Luke Giblin won the silver medal in men’s 200 metres running the race in 21.83s. He also took 4th place in the men’s 60 metres where he set a new PB of 6.91s.
Callum Giles followed his training partner over the line in the 200 metres to claim the bronze medal in a time of 22.18s. Callum also set a new PB of 22.14s in the heats.
John Twiddle the reigning British Master’s Throws Pentathlon Champion, contested the shot putt final at Sheffield. He was placed 7th with a best effort on the day of 11.97m.
Matthew Elvidge competed in the long jump final where he finished in 10th place. His best jump was one of 5.87m.
Asher Gammon was competing in his first Championship event. He has been working hard throughout the last few months in all aspects of training. He ran in the heats of the 60 metres and was delighted when he set a new PB of 7.56s in heat 2.
Three of our senior women sprinters competed in the heats of the 60metres.
Maegan Taylor was a 4 x 100 metres relay gold medallist at the 2014 BUCS Championships. She took 3rd place in heat 1 of the 60 metres at Sheffield and she ran a time of 7.80s.
Megan Hoult is the reigning Humberside Champion at both 100 and 200 metres. She ran in heat 3 at the EIS and was also placed 3rd in a time of 7.77s.
Sonia Santos won bronze medals at 200 metres and 100 metres hurdles at the Hull International Athletics Festival meeting last August. She ran in heat 2 at Sheffield and recorded a time of 8.37s.
