Five of Kingston’s youth team sprinters competed at the Birmingham indoor Games over the weekend of the 7th and 8th of February. The games were held at the most impressive National Indoor Arena in that city.
Charlotte Paterson competed in the under 20’s and was looking to extend her run of excellent form. She arrived at Birmingham having won the silver medal at the recent Northern Indoor Championships in Sheffield. She ran in the 60 metres and the 200 metres, both of which were held on the Saturday. Both competitions were run in heats and the athletes were placed in accordance with the times achieved.
Charlotte was the winner of the 60 metres with a time of 7.64s. She achieved 4th place in the 200 metres with a recorded time of 25.54s.
Four of our under 17’s girls ran in their 60 metres and 200 metres. Emily Lyons was placed 4th in her heat in the 60metres and posted a time of 8.17s. She was 2nd in her 200 heat where she posted a season’s best time of 26.64s.
Amelia Benson was placed 5th in her 60 metre race in 8.22s and she took 2nd place in her 200 in a time of 27.42s.
Gabrielle Whittle took 3rd place in both of her races, posting times of 8.32s in the 60 and 27.45s in the 200 metres.
Jessica Fields recorded a time of 8.58s in her 60 metres, which was just one tenth of a second outside her personal best and took 4th place in her 200 metres in 28.73s.
