‘Tom Pinks’ Relays and Field Events

E.I.S. Indoor Stadium, Sheffield – Saturday 14th March 2015

Our junior training group, which consists of athletes in the under11 and under 13 age groups, travelled in strength to the magnificent English Institute of Sport indoor stadium in Sheffield, to compete against countless hundreds of other young athletes who had travelled from all corners of the north, to what is probably the biggest junior competition in Northern England. It is definitely the best attended and the most anticipated competition and by far the noisiest event. Our youngsters had been looking forward to Sheffield since before last Christmas.

The track events consist of three team relays. ‘Chasing Mo’ ‘Chasing Kelly’ and ‘Keeping up with Paula’ all of course named after 3 of our greatest ever athletes.

The under 11’s also take part in the ‘over and under’ relay, whilst the under 13’s compete in the 3 x 2.5 lap time trials.

All contestants compete in the field events which are designed to cater for juniors and every event sees some serious competition from the young athletes.

Kingston’s young competitors returned home with a magnificent haul of 12 medals. Between them they won 4 gold medals, 6 silver and 2 bronze.
