UK Youth Development League – Northern Premier 2 – Match 3
Spinkhill, Sheffield – Sunday 21st June 2015
The third league match of the season, for our junior team, under 13’s & under 15’s, was held at Mount Stadium, Spinkhill, Sheffield on Sunday 21st of June.
The opposing teams were from, Leeds City, Chesterfield, Gateshead, Doncaster and Carlisle (Team Cumbria)
We saw a good turnout of young athletes and parents from the club and we witnessed some excellent individual and team performances.
The big news of the day was massive new PB in the Javelin by Ben Copley. He launched it out to 42.59 metres, which moved him up to No.1 in the UK rankings.
Kingston upon Hull finished in 2nd place on the day and we collected five league points. This puts us in 3rd place on the league table with a total of 13 points.
The final match of the season will be a home fixture at the Costello Stadium on Saturday 18th of July.
SPINKHILL – RESULTS
Under 13 girls – 75 metres
The two athletes in the 75 metres were Ciara Andrews in the ‘A’ race and Sophie Reed in the ‘B’. Ciara took 2nd place and she recorded a time of 10.8s, and Sophie clocked 11.4s, for 6th place in the ‘B’.
Under 13 girls – 150 metres
Jodie Martin was our representative in the 150 ‘A’ and she finished in 5th place with a time of 22.3s. The ‘B’ saw Sophie Reed back in action and she recorded a new PB of 22.9s, to take 4th place.
Under 13 girls – 800 metres
Jodie Martin and Emilia Russell were the runners in the 800. Jodie ran the ‘A’ race in 2:41.7s for 4h place and Emilia took a good 2nd place finish, running a new PB of 2:50.3s
Under 13 girls – 1200 metres
Evie Watson was the ‘A’ runner in the 1200 and she ran a new PB of 4.25.8s, for a 2nd place finish. Katy McCabe made her comeback in this meeting, her first competition since breaking her wrist in a Humber League meeting in Grimsby this May. She too took 2nd place and also ran a new PB of 4:32.9s.
Under 13 girls – 70 metres hurdles
Ciara Andrews was our ‘A’ runner and she took 3rd place with a run of 12.5s. In the ‘B’ race Lauren McClean ran a time of 14.0s, for 3rd place.
Under13 girls – high jump
Alanah Thoresby took 3rd place in the ‘A’ with a clearance of 1.25m, and Rosemary Shepherd was the winner of the ‘B’ event, clearing a height of 1.25m.
Under13 girls – long jump
Evie Watson and Alanah Thoresby were our representatives in the long jump competition. Evie jumped a new PB of 4.09m, to take 4th place in the ‘A’ and Alanah 3.75m, to win the ‘B’ event.
Under13 girls – shot putt
Faye Oliver took 3rd place in the ‘A’ with a throw of 8.50m. Holly Adams took 2nd place in the ‘B’ with a new PB of 6.31m.
Under 13 girls – javelin
Ciara Andrews was placed 4th in the ‘A’ with a throw of 18.03m, and Sophie Reed took 2nd place in the ‘B’ with a throw of 18.09m.
Under 15 girls – 100 metres
The outstanding Hannah Kynman was our ‘A’ runner and she dominated the race from start to finish, winning in a time of 12.7s. Libby Wheeler gave a great account of herself in the ‘B’ where she ran a new PB of 13.5s, to take 2nd place.
Under 15 girls – 200 metres
Hannah Kynman returned to the track for yet another win and more maximum points. She ran a time of 26.4s. The ‘B’ runner was Jennifer Hopkinson who ran a new PB of 28.7s to take 2nd place and she came within a whisker of winning it.
Under 15 girls – 300 metres
Abbie Haigh was our representative in the ‘A’ race, where she took a 2nd place finish with a run of 48.1s. Daisy Evans ran a new PB of 47.9s, to finish 4th in the ‘B’.
Under 15 girls – 800 metres
Daisy Evans was placed 5th in the ‘A’ race in a rime of 2:37.9s, with Lucy Savery taking 3rd place in the ‘B’ and running a time of 2:39.4s.
Under 15 girls – 1500 metres
Our representative in the 1500 metres was Connie Mounsey, who ran a time of 5:40.5s, for a 4th place finish.
Under 15 girls – 75 metres hurdles
Venus Morgan ran a new personal best performance of 11.7s, to win the ‘A’ race. Paige Mathers also ran a new PB of 13.2s, to take 4th place in the ‘B’
Under 15 girls – high jump
Venus Morgan took 4th place in the ‘A’ with a clearance of 1.50m, and Paige Mathers took 3rd place in the ‘B’
Under 15 girls – long jump
Libby Wheeler was the winner of the ‘A’ competition with a jump of 5.09m, and Savannah Beal took 2nd place in the ‘B’ with 4.08m.
Under 15 girls – shot putt
Venus Morgan took 3rd place in the ‘A’ event with a throw of 8.50m, and a throw of 6.71m by Beth Shaw earned her 3rd place in the ‘B’
Under 15 girls – discus
Beth Shaw finished in 5th place in the ‘A’ with a throw of 17.05m. a young lady making her league debut for Kingston, Leah Calverley, threw a new PB of 16.60m, to take 2nd place in the ‘B’
Under 15 girls – hammer
Beth Shaw took 3rd place in the ‘A’ with a throw of 26.78m, a new PB. In the ‘B’ Adriana Arroyo threw a new PB of 13.81m, for 4th place.
Under 15 girls – javelin
Rebecca Chivers took 3rd place in the ‘A’ competition with a throw of 22.70m, a new PB.
Under 13 boys – 100 metres
Ben Stutely and Harrison Haigh were our runners in this race. Ben recorded a new PB of 14.2s in the ‘A’ race, to finish in 4th place. Harrison was also placed 4th in the ‘B’ ad his time was 14.9s.
Under 13 boys – 200 metres
Luke Carr was our ‘A’ runner and he finished in 4th place in 30.3s, in the ‘B’ it was once again Harrison Haigh who was also 4th in 30.8s.
Under 13 boys – 800 metres
Sam Frankish ran 2:41.2s, for 4th place in the ‘A’ and William Buckle 2:49.0, for 4th in the ‘B’
Under 13 boys – 1500 metres
Harvey Newton ran a new PB of 5:21.9s, for 6th place in the ‘A’, and Daniel Chadwick took 3rd place in the ‘B’, with a new PB of 5:30.0s.
Under 13 boys – 75 metres hurdles
Henry Cannell ran a new PB of 14.4s,to take 3rdplace in the ‘A’ and Divaldo Agostinho was placed 4th in the ‘B’ in 16.7s.
Under 13 boys – high jump
Divaldo Agostinho cleared a height of 1.10m, for 6th place in the ‘A’ event, and Finlay Parker recorded a new PB of 1.10m, for 4th place in the ‘B’
Under 13 boys – long jump
Ben Stutely was the winner of the ‘A’ competition, with a jump of 4.30m, and Fabian Vidal took 3rd place in the ‘B’ with 3.61m.
Under 13 boys – shot putt
Ben Copley threw a new PB of 9.42m, to win the ‘A’ event and Fabian Vidal threw a new PB of 5.32m, for 4th place in the ‘B’
Under 15 boys – 100 metres
Under 13 boys – javelin
Ben Copley was not only the winner of this competition, but he launched a massive new PB of 42.59m, which moved him up to number one in the UK Rankings.
Luke Carr took 3rd place in the ‘B’ with a new personal best throw of 14.40m.
Under 15 boys – 100 metres
Jack Perry took 2nd place in the ‘A’ race with a time of 11.8s, and Lewis Gilbey was the winner of the ‘B’ race with a run of 12.5s.
Under 15 boys – 200 metres
Jack Perry and Lewis Gilbey were also our representatives in the 200 metres. Jack took 2nd place in the ‘A’ with a run of 24.8s and Lewis was placed 3rd in the ‘B’ in 25.9s
Under 15 boys – 300 metres
Joseph Seed ran the ‘A’ race and he was placed 5th in 46.4s. Our contestant in the ‘B’ was David Morgan-Harrison and he took 3rd place in 45.4s.
Under 15 Boys – 800 metres
Joseph Seed and Sam Westhead were our runners in the 800. Joe ran the ‘A’ and recorded a time of 2:25.6s, for 4th place, whilst Sam ran 2:33.9s, for 3rd place in the ‘B’.
Under 15 boys – 80 metres hurdles
Adam Coles took 3rd place in the ‘A’ race with a run of 12.5s. Sam Westhead also took 3rd place in the ‘B’ with a time of 14.0s.
Under 15 boys – high jump
Philip May cleared a new personal best height of 1.45m, to take 4th place in the ‘A’ event, and Adam Coles cleared a season’s best of 1.45m, to take 3rd place in the ‘B’
Under 15 boys – long jump
Jack Perry took 2nd place in the ‘A’ event with a jump of 5.43m. Philip May was placed 3rd in the ‘B’ with 4.03m.
Under 15 boys – shot putt
Shaun Kerry took 2nd place in the ‘A’ event with a throw of 11.12m, and Will Robinson was the winner of the ‘B’ with a new PB of 9.46m.
Under 15 boys – discus
Will Robinson took 3rd place in the ‘A’ with a throw of 27.21m. Adam Coles took 3rd place in the ‘B’ with 17.73m.
Under 15 boys – hammer
Will Robinson was the winner of the ‘A’ event, throwing a new PB of 42.66m. Shaun Kerry won the ‘B’ event with a throw of 23.39m.
Under 15 men – javelin
Shaun Kerry threw a new PB of 35.89m to win the ‘A’ competition.
RELAY RESULTS
4 x 100 metres – under 13 girls
The Kingston quartet of, Ciara Andrews, Rosie Shepherd, Sophie Reed and Jodie Martin, recorded a time of 57.4s for 2nd place.
4 x 100 metres – under 13 boys
Luke Carr, Harrison Haigh, Ben Stutely and Divaldo Agostinho, finished 4th and ran a time of 59.4s.
4 x 100 metres – under 15 girls
Venus Williams, Hannah Kynman, Libby Wheeler and Caitlin Umpleby were the winners of the race and their recorded time was 51.3s.
4 x 100 metres – under 15 boys
Jack Perry, Shaun Kerry, Lewis Gilbey and Philip May, finished in 3rd place in a time of 50.9s.
4 x 300 metres – under 15 boys
David Morgan-Harrison, Joseph Seed, Lewis Gilbey and Adam Coles, finished in 2nd place and their recorded time was 3:01.3s.
