Club Awards & Presentation Night

Craven Park, Hull – Saturday 28th November 2015

Kingston upon Hull Athletic Clubs annual social evening and awards presentation night was held on Saturday the 28th of November at the Craven Park Stadium in Hull. There was a good turnout of athletes, together with their families and guests, coaches, and club officials.

The master of ceremonies for the evening, was once again our estimable ‘club legend’ John Brant, who enchanted everyone in attendance with not only his athletics knowledge, but also his wit and repartee.

Our special guest was Lawrence Baird, a former international athlete with both England and Great Britain, who now competes in the V35 category. In August this year Lawrence was the 400 metres silver medallist at the World Masters Championships in Lyon, France. He was also a member of the 4 x 400 metres relay team which won the gold medal, and set a new World Masters record time.

Lawrence presented the trophies to all of the evenings award winners.

Event awards are presented to the outstanding performers during 2015 in each of the age categories. Starting with the under 11’s and going through 13’s, 15’s, 17’s, 20’s, and the senior athletes.

There were also awards made to the athletes who are judged to have produced the best performances at the National Championships and the Northern Championships.

2015 has seen some truly remarkable displays by our junior and youth athletes, three of whom have competed in International meetings. One of our girls broke the British record and attained the number one ranking in the UK.

Six Kingston athletes won medals on the biggest stage of all, at the English Schools Championships. They brought 3gold, 2 silvers, and one bronze medal back to Costello. The competition for the awards was tremendous and it took several selection meetings and long debates before the decisions were made.
