North Yorkshire Indoor Open Meeting

EIS Stadium, Sheffield – 20th December 2015

Two of Kingston’s youth team athletes travelled across to Sheffield on the last Saturday before Christmas, to have a run out at the North Yorkshire Indoor Open Meeting, which was being held at the English Institute of Sports Stadium

17 year old Andrew Morgan-Harrison is a sprints specialist who competes in the under 20’s age group. He was a 200 metre semi finalist at the 2015 Northern Indoor Championships, and won the 100 metre gold medal and 200 metres silver at the North Yorkshire Schools Championships. He was also the 100 metre silver medallist at the 2015 Humberside Championships. He won County representation with the North Yorkshire team at the English Schools Championships, where he ran in the 100 metre sprints. He is also a popular and valued member of the Kingston youth team.

He entered both sprint races at Sheffield, winning his 60 metres race in a new personal best time of 7.2s, and followed this up with a further victory in the 200 metres, where he set another new PB of 22.4s. Altogether, it was another satisfactory day out for Andrew.

17 year old Hollie Smith is the Kingston youth team’s leading high jumper. She was the bronze medallist in the high jump at the 2015 Northern Indoor Championships, and won the gold medal at the Humberside Schools Championships. The Sheffield meeting was a chance to see where she was at, at this point of the pre season. She cleared a height of 1.70m, just 3 centimetres off her personal best, which gave her a 4th place finish.
