BMC Open Meting – Sheffield – Sunday 10th January 2016

Jonny Beharrell

2015 was a year to forget for Kingston’s 17 year old sprinter and middle distance runner Jonathon Beharrell. He was beset by injury problems which put him out of the 2014/15 indoor and cross country seasons and the entirety of the 2015 track and field season.

He had looked so impressive on the track in 2014, where he was the Humberside Schools 800 metre champion, and the 400 metre bronze medallist at the Northern Championships in Wigan. He was also a county representative, both on the track, and cross country.

In November of 2015 he made his competitive return in one of the regular Hull park runs, and in December made a return to the track at the Northern Athletics indoor open meeting in Sheffield, where he ran in a 600 metres race, and posted a new PB of 1:25.74s, for a 6th place finish.

January 2016 saw him indoors again at the BMC Sheffield open meeting. This time he ran in the 800 metres race, which he won and produced a season’s best time of 1:58.59s.

It is good to see Jonny out on the track with his training group, getting stronger by the week, can’t wait to see him back in the youth team and at the major championships.
