Midland Counties Indoor Open Meeting

Kingston upon Hull Athletic clubs number one male and female senior sprinters were in action at the Midland Counties indoor open meeting in Birmingham on Sunday 21st of February. All sprinters at the meeting were allowed to compete in two races, and Megan Hoult and Luke Giblin both ran in two 60 metres races.
Megan Hoult is now in her 11th year with the club, having made her debut in April of 2006, when she was competing in the under15 age category. Throughout her career she has been a fixture in all of the clubs league teams, through the juniors, the youth team and then the seniors. She is a former Northern 60 metres champion, and a seven times County sprint champion, and in her youth career she was a bronze medallist at the UK School Games.
Megan ran in two 60 metres sprint races in Birmingham, where in the first she took 2nd place and recorded a time 7.75s.
In the second of her two runs she once again took a 2nd place finish, and ran a new PB of 7.67s.
Luke Giblin made his first appearance for Kingston in 2005 and 2016 marks his 12th competitive season with the club, where he has been a mainstay of the senior league team for the last 11 years. He is an exceptional sprinter with an outstanding record at championship events. He is a nine time County sprints champion, and a six times silver medallist at the Northern Championships, the latest of which came at Sheffield at this January’s championship meeting.
Luke was also in action in two 60 metres sprint races, running a seasons’ best time of 6.98s, for 3rd place.
In his other race he took 2nd place with another season’s best performance of 6.97s.
