UK Youth Development League – Division 1 East
‘Keepmoat’ Stadium, Doncaster – Sunday 29th May 2016
Kingston’s under 17’s and under 20’s team made their second visit of the season to Doncaster’s Keepmoat Stadium. This time for the home fixture of the combined Harrogate, Scarborough and Wetherby teams (HAWKS). Further opposition was provided by teams from Edinburgh (Team Forth Valley), City of Sheffield and Dearne AC, Doncaster AC and the South of Humber outfit, a composite team representing the Lincoln Wellington club, together with Scunthorpe and Cleethorpes Athletic Clubs.
The team had competed very well in the opening fixture, where we had come away standing in 3rd place in the league table. This had been a good result in a tough division against quality opponents and we were looking to consolidate our position.
There were a number of late withdrawals from the squad, which put pressure on the rest of the team, who had to take on extra events in order to limit the damage done. The situation was far from ideal, but these athletes are strong, and there is a great spirit within the team. They put in a mighty effort which kept us in contention throughout the match.
We finished in 4th place on the day with a total of 429 match points, which gave us 3 league points and saw us retain our 3rd place in the table. One point above Doncaster AC in 4th slot and 2 points above South of Humber and ‘Hawks’, who occupy the relegation places.
Details of all of the Kingston athletes performances at the meeting are as follows:-
