UK Youth Development League – Division North Premier 2

Darlington – Sunday 19^th June 2016

For their third league match of the 2016 track & field season, the Kingston junior team travelled up to the Eastbourne complex in Darlington. When they departed from the Costello Stadium, the team was holding 4^th position in the league table and we hoped to hang on to that spot, and to stay out of the relegation places.

The opposition came from athletes representing Leeds City AC, Wirral AC, West Cheshire AC, Harrogate Harriers & AC and Rotherham Harriers & AC.

Despite a great effort from our youngsters, the team finished in 5^th place on the day and collected 2 league points. The Harrogate team moved one point above us on the league ladder, leaving us in 5^th place and a relegation spot.

The outstanding achievements of the day came from Shaun Kerry, who launched a massive new PB of 58.51metres in the hammer throw, which took him to the No. 1 ranking in the UK.

The under 15 boys 4 x 100 metres relay team, who set a new club record of 49.2s.

The final match will take the junior team on a long journey west, on Saturday the 16^th of July. To Bebbington, the home track of Wirral Athletic Club. Our objective is a simple one, to avoid relegation. To achieve this we must finish above Harrogate Harriers at the final meeting.

Details of all the Kingston athletes performances are as follows:-

Under 13 Girls

One of our promising young sprinters, Hermione Keyworth, made her national league debut in the 75 metre sprint ‘A’ race, where she took 2^nd place and ran a time of 11.2s. In the ‘B’, Sophie Reed an experienced and accomplished young athlete was the winner of the race and she too recorded a time of 11.2s.

Hermione was back in action in the 150 metres race, where her run of 21.5s, gave her another 2^nd place finish.

The 800 metres race brought together Lauren McClean and Emilia Russell.

Lauren went in the ‘A’ race, where she took 5^th place and ran a time of 2:49.2s. Emilia ran a new personal best time of 2:39.9s in the ‘B’, which saw her claim victory in the race.

Ella Shaw-Hall made both her cub and national league debut in the 1200 metres race. Ella who has only been training with our junior group since this April, ran a personal best time of 4:39.2s to take 5^th place.

Lauren McClean had another outing in the 70 metres hurdles race, where she took 2^nd place and recorded a time of 12.8s.

The field events saw Lauren McClean and Ella Shaw-Hall, representing the team in the high jump competition, where Lauren’s new PB of 1.35m, gave her 3^rd place in the ‘A’ event. Ella also produced a new PB in the ‘B’, where she cleared a height of 1.05m, to take 5^th place.

Sophie Reed returned to action in the long jump, taking 3^rd place in the ‘A’ with a new PB of 3.94m. Another young lady making her national league debut, was Lucy Parker, who took 5^th place in the ‘B’ with a new PB of 3.25m.

Northern indoor champion, Holly Adams, who is ranked number 7 in the UK, was the winner of the of the shot putt ‘A’ event, where she threw a new PB of 9.35m. Emilia Russell was the ‘B’ thrower and she took 3^rd place with a throw of 3.80m.

Holly and Emilia were back together again, for the javelin competition. Holly threw a new PB of 19.62m in the ‘A’, to pick up her second victory of the day, whilst Emilia’s throw of 10.62m, gave her 3^rd place in the ‘B’ event.

Under 13 Boys

Owen Robinson and Fabian Vidal represented the team in the 100 metres sprint race. Owen ran in the ‘A’ race, where he took 5^th place, in a time of 15.2s. Fabian’s run of 15.3s in the ‘B’ gave him a 4^th place finish.

The 200 metres saw Adam Fox running the ‘A’ race, where he took 3^rd place and posted a time of 29.1s. Owen Robinson went in the ‘B’, taking 3^rd place and running a time of 30.6s.

In the 800 metres race Adam Fox was our ‘A’ and his run of 2:29.8s saw him take 4^th place. Harvey Southcoat finished 5^th in the ‘B’, his recorded time was 2:50.2s.

Thomas Smales was our ‘A’ competitor in the 1500 metres race. He ran a new personal best time of 5:18.9s, to take 6^th place.

In the 75 metres hurdles races Jack Singleton took 4^th place in the ‘A’, with a run of 15.7s. The ‘B’ race saw James Iversen making his National League debut, he ran a new PB of 17.0s, to take 5^th place.

The high jump saw Thomas and Harry Iversen in competition. Thomas cleared a new PB height of 1.25m in the ‘A’, for 4^th place, with James also claiming 4^th in the ‘B’ with his clearance at 1.25m.

Two of the clubs more experienced campaigners, Connor Pickering and Fabian Vidal, joined forces in the long jump. Connor took 2^nd place in the ‘A’ with a jump of 4.23m and Fabian’s effort of 3.93m, in the ‘B’ saw him take 3^rd place.

The twosome were back in action again in the shot event, where Connor threw a new PB of 8.96m to win the ‘A’ and Fabian followed suit, winning the ‘B’ with a throw of 7.05m.

Connor Pickering was back again in the javelin event, taking 2^nd place in the ‘A’, with a throw of 25.40m. Alex Chivers represented the team in the ‘B’ and his new PB of 17.70m saw him take 3^rd place.

Under 15 Girls

Olivia Bradshaw made her National League debut in the 100 metres ‘A’ race, where she took 4^th place and ran a time of 13.4s. In the ‘B’ race Rose Hewitt took 6^th place with a run of 14.6s.

The 200 metres saw Rose Hewitt running the ‘A’ race, where she took 5^th place and ran a time of 29.2s. Evie Watson went in the ‘B’ and her run of 29.1s gave her a 2^nd place finish.

Evie Watson was back in action in the 300 metres, taking 5^th place in the ‘A’ and running a time of 46.9s. Abbie Haigh ran the ‘B’ race and her run of 48.8s gave her 5^th place.

In the 800 metres Jodie Martin took 5^th place in the ‘A’, running a time of 2:29.3s. The ‘B’ race saw Becky Chivers take 6^th place, with a run of 2:48.3s.

Emily Dye ran the ‘A’ race in the 75 metres hurdles, taking 6^th place in 14.1s. Abbie Haigh took 3^rd place in the ‘B’, where she ran a new PB of 13.6s.

The high jump brought together Rosie Shepherd and Alanah Thoresby. Rosie took 5^th place in the ‘A’, with a clearance at 1.35m. Alanah jumped the same height in the ‘B’, to take 3^rd place.

Emily Dye took 4^th place in the long jump ‘A’, with a new PB of 4.52m. In the ‘B’ a new PB of 4.40m by Alanah Thoresby, saw her take 3^rd place.

Indigo Atkin’s throw of 9.60m, in the shot ‘A’ gave her a 3^rd place finish. Becky Chivers also took 3^rd place in the shot ‘B’, with a throw of 7.11m.

In the discus competition, Faye Oliver took 2^nd place in the ‘A’, with a throw of 22.05m, with Jess Townsend taking 3^rd in the ‘B’ with 17.46m.

In the hammer throw, Indigo Atkin took 2^nd place in the ‘A’ with a throw of 28.91m. In the ‘B’ Ellie Townsend’s throw of 12.61m gave her 5^th place.

The javelin competition saw Becky Chivers take 2^nd place in the ‘A’, with a throw of 28.38m, whilst Indigo Atkin won the ‘B’ with an effort of 25.73m.

Under 15 Boys

Brody Hinson represented the team in the 100 metres ‘A’ race. He took 2^nd place and ran a time of 12.5s. Sam Croney ran the ‘B’, where he claimed 3^rd place and posted a time of 12.8s.

Brody was also the ‘A’ runner in the 200 metres, again taking 2^nd place and recording a time of 25.0s. Tyler Thompson went in the ‘B’ race, taking 5^th place and running a new PB of 27.0s.

The 300 metres brought together Sam Westhead and Charlie Weeks. Sam took 5^th place in the ‘A’ race and ran a time of 44.8s. In the ‘B’ Charlie ran a new PB of 46.6s, for 4^th place.

In the 800 metres ‘A’ Joe Seed ran a new PB of 2:19.5s, to take 3^rd place.

The 1500 metres saw Harvey Newton take 6^th place in the ‘A’, where he ran a new PB of 5:05.0s. Chris Levinson, who was making only his second appearance for Kingston, took 5^th place in the ‘B’ and he ran a time of 5:34.8s.

Northern bronze medallist Sam Croney was the winner of the ‘A’ race in the 80 metres hurdles, his specialist event and he ran a time of 12.6s. Sam Westhead was the winner of the ‘B’ race and he ran a season’s best time of 14.3s.

Tyler Thompson was in further action in the high jump, taking 1^st place and recording a new PB, with a clearance at 1.50m. Charlie Weeks produced a season’s best performance of 1.30m, to take 3^rd place in the ‘B’.

Ben Stutely took 3^rd place in the pole vault ‘A’ event, where his clearance at a height of 2.40m was a new PB.

Sam Westhead jumped a new PB of 4.59m in the long jump ‘A’, to take 6^th place. In the ‘B’ Tyler Thompson took 2^nd place with a jump of 4.43m.

Shaun Kerry was the winner of the ‘A’ event in the shot competition, with a throw of 11.90m. Joe Seed won the ‘B’, where he threw a new PB of 9.12m.

In the discus ‘A’ Antony Mould took 5^th place in the ‘A’ , throwing a distance of 18.34m. Whilst Joe Seed’s new PB of 16.28m gave him 3^rd place in the ‘B’.

Shaun Kerry was the winner of the javelin ‘A’, with a throw of 41.81m. The ‘B’ saw Ben Stutely throw a new PB of 13.83m, for 4^th place.

The hammer competition saw the Northern champion, Shaun Kerry throw a new PB of 58.51m, which took him to the top of the British rankings list. Antony Mould was the winner of the ‘B’, where he too threw a new PB of 17.10m.

Relay Races

Under 13 Girls – 4 x 100 Metres

Sophie Reed, Lucy Parker, Hermione Keyworth and Lauren McClean, were the winners of the race and the team ran a season’s best time of 56.2s.

Under 13 Boys – 4 x 100 Metres

Fabian Vidal, Adam Fox, Owen Robinson and Jack Singleton, took 4^th place in their race and ran a time of 58.7s.

Under 15 Girls – 4 x 100 Metres

Olivia Bradshaw, Evie Watson, Rose Hewitt and Emily Dye, finished in 4^th place and recorded a time of 54.0s.

Under 15 Boys – 4 x 100 Metres

Brody Hinson, Sam Croney, Shaun Kerry and Tyler Thompson, set a new club record of 49.2s to take 2^nd place in the race.

Under 15 Girls – 4 x 300 Metres

Alanah Thoresby, Jodie Martin, Abbie Haigh and Emily Dye, finished in 4^th position and they ran a time of 3:12.9s.

Under 15 Boys – 4 x 300 Metres

Harvey Newton, Joe Seed, Sam Westhead and Charlie Weeks, took 4^th place in the race and recorded a time of 3:07.5s.

Non Scorers Races

Under 13 Girls – 75 Metres Race

Lucy Parker was the winner of the race, where she ran a time of 11.5s.

Under 13 Boys – 100 Metres Race (1)

Adam Fox took 3^rd place in the race and he ran a time of 14.7s. Harvey Southcoat was 6^th and his time was 15.7s. Thomas Smales finished 7^th, in a time of 16.1s.

Under 13 Boys – 100 Metres Race (2)

Jack Singleton was the winner of the race, in a recorded time of 15.4s. Thomas Iversen took 4^th place, running a time of 16.1s, with his brothers, Harry taking 5^th in 16.3s and James, 7^th with a new PB of 16.5s.

Under 15 Girls – 100 metres Race

Rosie Shepherd took 4^th place in the race, where she ran a time of 15.4s.
