Humber Track & Field League Meeting 5
King George V Stadium, Grimsby

The 5th and final Humber track & field league meeting of 2016 took place at the King George V stadium in Grimsby on Sunday the 21st of August and a number of Kingston’s younger athletes made the short journey over to Lincolnshire to take part in the competition.
There were some good efforts from the young athletes and several of them achieved new personal best times both on the track and the field. Details of all the Kingston performances on the day are as follows.
Under 11’s
The 80 and 150 metres County champion Tilly Cairns went in the second of the 80 metres races where she was the race winner running a time of 12.8s. In the 150 metres she ran in race 3 where she collected a second victory and posted a time of 24.0s.
Tonisha Pickering was in action in the first of the 80 metres races where her run of 13.2s saw her take 3rd place. She returned to the track for race one of the 150 metres where she again took 3rd place, crossing the finish line in a time of 25.0s. Her next action came out on the field in the long jump competition where she took 2nd place with a new PB of 3.45m.
Under 13’s
Lauren McClean competed in three events. The 70 metres hurdles race saw the County champion take victory, running a time of 14.7s, she also holds the County high jump title and a further victory was achieved in that event with a clearance at a height of 1.32m. The 100 metres race saw Lauren running a new PB of 14.7s to take 2nd place.
Northern shot and discus silver medallist Holly Adams competed in both of her championship events, winning the shot with a throw of 9.06m and backing that up with another victory in the discus where she threw a distance of 19.80m. Further competition came in the javelin throw where she took her 3rd victory at the meeting and she launched a new PB of 20.90m.
Connor Pickering was in competition in three events, the long jump and the shot where he is the County title holder and the javelin where he is in his first competitive season. He won all three events, leaping 3.95m for victory in the long jump and throwing 8.85m in the shot for another win. The javelin saw him throw a new PB of 25.71m for his third success.
Alex Chivers competed in the same three events and he jumped a new PB of 3.00m in the long jump to take 4th place. In the shot he took 2nd place with his throw of 5.60m and he launched a new PB of 20.47m for 2nd place in the javelin.
Under 15’s
Becky Chivers took on three events at the meeting the newly crowned Northern javelin Champion duly won that competition with her throw of 27.83m and picked up a 3rd place in the discus with an effort of 15.01m. On the track she is normally a middle distance runner but at this meeting she ran in her first competitive 300 metres race which she won and recorded a new PB, a respectable time of 55.5s.
The County and County Schools 100 and 200 metres champion Brody Hinson was in competition in both of those events at Grimsby. He won both of the races running a time of 12.1s in the 100 metres and claimed another victory in the 200 with his run of 24.9s.
Under 17’s
Paige Mathers competed in three of her main events at this competition and she was the winner of all three. She was the silver medallist in the 80 metres hurdles race at both the County and County Schools championship meetings, here she won the race in a time of 14.4s. Another victory came in the long jump competition where she produced a leap of 4.23m and her third success was in the javelin event where she threw a distance of 27.35m
