Annual Awards and Presentation Night
‘Good Fellowship Inn’ – Saturday 26th November 2016
Kingston’s annual awards and presentation night was held at the Goodfellowship Inn which was a new venue for the club. There was a very healthy turnout of athletes, coaches, officials and parents and families.
Awards are presented in every age group from 9 year olds in the junior training groups right up to the clubs senior’s and international athletes. The award categories are sprints, hurdles, middle distance, distance and road, cross country, throwing events, jumping events and combined events. In addition awards are also presented to the athletes who have put in the most outstanding performances at this year’s major championship meetings both Track & Field and Indoors.
The master of ceremonies was sprint coach John Brant who once again did an excellent job and the awards were presented by one of Kingston’s Great Britain internationals, Annabelle Lewis who was a bronze medal winner at the 2013 World Athletics Championships in Russia.

Major Award Winners
Best Performance at the Northern Championships – Women
Maggie Okul won her 4th consecutive Under 20’s hammer title at this Junes Championship meeting preserving her unbeaten record at the Northern’s where in addition to her 4 gold medals at under 20 she won had won two gold’s at under 17’s.
Best Performance at the Northern Championships – Men
Harry Powell competed in two distance races at this year’s Northern Championships and he won both of them. His first gold came in the 5000 metres where he ran a new PB of 15:34.77s and since that race he has taken a further 12.06s off his best time. He also ran a new PB of 8:44.05s for his 3000 metres gold taking 17.48s off his previous best.
Best Performance at the National Championships – Women
Ollie Stevenson won two medals at National level winning the hammer gold at the England under 17 Championships and taking a silver medal in the England under 18’s competition. She was ranked No. 1 UK for a big part of the season and she broke the British record in the County championship meeting.
Best Performance at the National Championships – Men
Shaun Kerry had a magnificent track & field season this year which saw him win a total of 15 medals at major championship meetings 10 gold, 4 silver and 1 bronze. He is primarily a hammer thrower but is also an excellent shot putter and discus thrower. He won two medals at National level taking the hammer gold at the English Schools championships at Gateshead and winning the silver medal in the hammer at the England National championships in Bedford.
Best Performance at the Indoor Championships National’s/Northern’s – Women
Charlotte Paterson competed in two indoor National championship meetings firstly at the England championships where she was the bronze medallist in the 60 metres sprints. The second was at the British championships where entry is by selection only and she got the nod to compete. She qualified for both the finals at the British event taking 5th place in the 60 metres race and 4th place in the 200 metres. She also won her second England vest at the Welsh indoor International.
Best Performance at the Indoor Championships National’s/Northern’s – Men
Andy Morgan-Harrison competed in the England indoor championships and he too was selected to contest the 200 metres race at the British championships. He qualified for the semi finals of both the 60 metres and the 200 metres at the England championships but missed the cut for the finals. At the British championships he ran in the semi finals but once again he missed the cut. He also won his first England vest and competed at the Welsh indoor International.
