Humber Track & Field League

King George V Stadium, Grimsby

The latest Humber track & Field league meeting was staged at Grimsby’s King George V Stadium on Sunday the 6^th of August and athletes from all of the clubs situated around the River Humber attended the meeting as well as competitors from Lincolnshire and further afield.

Details of the performances of all Kingston upon Hull AC athletes at the meeting are as follows.

                                                                                                                                                          UNDER 11s

Noah Sibary has been training with Kingston since the summer of 2016 and has been making good progress in the clubs junior system he is at home in both sprint and middle distance races and was the gold medallist over 80 metres, 150 metres and 600 metres at this years County Championships. He was in action in three events at this meeting where he was winner of the first of the 80 metres sprint races running a new PB of 12.1 sec and taking four tenths of a second off his previous time. He entered for his first long jump competition which he won and his leap of 4.13 metres saw him establish a PB and he made it a hat trick of victories in the 600 metres race where his winning time was 1:52.5 sec. Max Wright has been training with the club for the last two months and made his debut appearance in June at the Pontefract open meeting and he is making steady progress in the juniors, he had his second outing at this meeting where he ran in race 2 of the 80 metres series which saw him taking a 2^nd place finish and posting a time of 13.3 sec. Georgina Smales is another recent recruit who made her debut appearance this May and this meeting was her second competitive outing. She ran in the 80 metres and 150 metres sprints taking 5^th place in the 80 and establishing a PB of 13.7 sec whilst in the 150 she took 2^nd place and established a PB of 26.5 sec.

                                                                                                                                                          UNDER 13s

Toby Greensmith has been a Kingston athlete since the summer of 2016 he made his debut this April in the Humber track & field league and this June he made his representative debut for the club in a UK Youth Development League fixture in York. He was in action in three events at Grimsby where he competed in his first 100 metres race and also his first long jump plus the 800 metres. The 100 metre sprint saw him take 4^th place and he established a PB of 15.8 sec, he was the 3^rd place finisher in the long jump setting a PB of 3.78 metres and on more familiar ground in the 800 metres he was the race winner in a time of 2:39.1 sec.

Finlay Southcoat is an established member of the Junior UK YDL team he was the bronze medallist at 100 and 200 metres plus the long jump at this years County Championships. His events at Grimsby were the 800 metres where he took 2^nd place running a time of 2:45.7 sec, long jump where he was placed 5^th with a leap of 3.48 metres and the shot putt where he was the event winner adding another 93 centimetres to his previous best to set himself a new PB of 6.79 metres. County shot champion Alex Chivers couldn’t find his best form at this competition but still took 2^nd place with his throw of 6.55 metres, he also competed in an under 17s javelin event where he threw the heavier 700 gram javelin for the first time taking 3^rd place and setting a PB of 22.63 metres. Libby Hackney ran in her first 100 and 200 metre races at this meeting, the 100 saw her take 4^th place and register a PB of 14.5 sec and in the 200 metres her PB of 31.1 sec gave her a 2^nd place finish. Evie Leigh-Williams  also ran in her first 200 metres race where she was a 3^rd place finisher and established a PB of 16.3 sec, she was also in action in her first 800 metres race where she recorded a PB of 2:58.55 sec for a 7th place finish.

UNDER 15s

Inter Counties champion and County and County Schools champion Brody Hinson was in action in both the 100 and 200 metre sprints where he won his customary double taking the 100 metres in a time of 11.8 sec and winning the 200 metres with a run of 24.3 sec. Four Kingston team mates were also running in the 100 metres with three middle distance runners Harry Hudson in his first 100 metres taking 3^rd place and posting a PB of 13.1 sec and Adam Fox 4^th in 13.2 sec and Harvey Southcoat in 5^th running a new PB of 13.7 sec clipping three 10ths of a second off his old mark and Hurdler Jack Singleton 6^th in 14.3 sec. Adam Fox and Harvey Southcoat saw further action together in the 800 metres and the long jump, Adam was the winner of both the events running 2:19.6 sec in the 800 with Harvey in 4^th place with a new PB of 2:36.5 sec taking two seconds off his old best and in the long jump they both put in new personal best performances Adam putting on another 12 centimetres for a new PB of 4.49 metres and Harvey putting 50 centimetres on his best for a new PB of 4.33 metres and a 2^nd place finish. Harry Hudson was also in competition in his first 1500 metres where he was the race winner and established a PB of 4:33.1 sec and training partner Thomas Smales took 3^rd place with his run of 4:55.4 sec. Jack Singleton was in further action running his first race over the longer distance 80 metres hurdles where he was the race winner and established a PB 14.9 sec. The girls 100 metres saw the County champion Daisy Logan winning the race running a time of 13.5 sec with hurdler Lauren McClean the County Schools bronze medallist taking 4^th place and equalling her PB of 14.7 sec. The 200 metres saw Daisy Logan taking 3^rd place and running a time of 27.9 sec with the County champion Jodie Martin taking 5^th place in 29.1 sec. Jodie Martin was also in action in the 300 metres where she was the race winner and took five tenths of a second off her best time setting a new PB of 44.4 sec. In the 75 metre hurdles Lauren McClean was the 2^nd place finisher and equalled her PB of 13.2 sec with Emily Dye taking 3^rd and clipping a tenth of a second off her previous best posting a new PB of 13.4 sec. Evie Watson competed in her first triple jump event where she took 2^nd place and established a PB of 9.34 metres and Evie was also in action in the long jump taking 6^th place with her leap of 4.35 metres with Daisy Logan in 10^th with 3.69 metres.

                                                                                                                                                               UNDER 17s

Adam Coles was the winner of the mens 100 metres where he ran a new PB of 12.0 sec clipping a tenth of a second off his old time. Jennifer Hopkinson has returned to competition this year after being out of action for a long period, she ran in the 100 metres race at Grimsby where she was the race winner and ran a time of 13.6 sec. Hurdles specialist Lucy Savery was involved in both the 200 and 300 metre flat races, she was the winner of the 200 metres where she ran a time of 30.6 sec and took 2^nd place in the 300 metres where she clocked 47.8 sec. County and County Schools champion Harriet Cannell and 2016 Northern champion Becky Chivers were involved in a good contest in the javelin event which saw Harriet taking victory with her throw of 33.83 metres and Becky taking 2^nd place with her best effort of 31.92 metres. Becky Chivers was in further action in the shot putt where her throw of 8.17 metres gave her a 3^rd place finish.

                                                                                                                                                               UNDER 20s

The 400 metres flat and hurdles are Natalie Varga’s domain and she chose to test herself at this meeting over the 400 metres and for the first time she ran a competitive 200 metres race. She was the winner of both races running a new PB of 63.3 sec in the 400 clipping a tenth of a second off her previous best, and establishing a PB of 28.3 sec in the 200 metres race.
