Northern Athletics Indoor Open Track & Field Meeting

The 2017/2018 indoor season got underway on Saturday the 18th of November with the first of the Northern Athletics indoor open meetings at the English Institute of Sport stadium in Sheffield. Eight Kingston upon Hull AC athletes made the journey over to South Yorkshire to compete at the meeting.
19 year old England international Andrew Morgan-Harrison got his season underway in the senior men’s competition where he was in action in both the 60 metre and 150 metre sprint races. He was joined in both of the races by the County and County Schools 400 metre champion Robert Tweedale.
The 60 metres saw Andrew storming to victory with a good run of 7.05 sec and Robert ran a new PB of 7.81 sec three tenths of a second below his previous best for 7th place. In the 150 metres Andrew clipped 1.3 seconds off his old time running a new PB of 16.26 sec to collect his second victory of the day and Robert took 4th place clipping 0.55 of a second off his old time running a new PB of 18.04 sec.
Race 3 of the under 17 men’s competition brought English Schools finalist and Northern silver medallist Brody Hinson into his first action since September and his season’s best run of 7.57 sec saw him take a 2nd place finish.
The under15 girl’s competition saw training partners Lydia Moore and Izzy Watts make their return to action. They were in direct competition in the shot putt where Lydia was the event winner throwing a new PB of 6.69 metres adding 35 centimetres to her previous best and Izzy Watts took 2nd place with her throw of 6.08 metres. The long jump saw both girls setting personal best performances Lydia equalled her PB of 3.37 metres for 16th place and Izzy jumped a new PB of 3.07 metres adding 3 centimetres to her old mark for 20th place.
Lydia Moore was in further action in race 3 of the 600 metres where she slashed 13.74 seconds off her previous best time running a new PB of 2:05.50 sec for 3rd place in the race.
The under 15 boy’s were represented by Jack Singleton who was competing at his first indoor event where he chose to run in his first 60 metres sprint race. He was seeded to run in race 1 of the series where he was the 8th place finisher and his run of 8.38 sec saw him establish a personal best performance.
Noah Sibary has been training with Kingston since 2016 and this year has seen him complete his first full competitive season, he is a talented young athlete who won three titles in the under 11 age category at the 2017 County Championship meeting, where he won gold medals over 80 metres, 150 metres and 600 metres. He has now made the move up to the under 13 age category and he made his indoor debut at this meeting in race 9 of the under 13’s sixty metre series where he was the 3rd place finisher and established a PB of 9.38 sec for the 60 metre distance. He saw further track action in race 1 of the 600 metres where he took another 3rd place finish running a big new PB of 1:45.89 sec slashing 9.41 seconds off his previous best. He also competed in the long jump event taking 12th place with his jump of 3.76 metres.
Another under 13 is Libby Hakney who made her Kingston debut at this year’s Spring open meeting in April, she is another talented youngster who has quickly made her mark and was selected to run for the junior team in two of this year’s fixtures in the UK Youth Development League. She was in competition with Noah Sibary in race 1 of the under 13’s 60 metres which was a mixed boy’s and girl’s race, this was also Libby’s debut at the 60 metre distance where she was the winner of the race and established a PB of 9.04 sec.
