UK Youth Development League Division – North East 1
Under 13’s & 15’s – Match 1
Spinkhill, Sheffield – Saturday 21st April 2018
The Kingston junior team got their 2018 season in League Division North East One up and running at Spinkhill, Sheffield. This was the first of four rounds of competition and the opposing teams this year are Rotherham Harriers, Doncaster AC, Chesterfield & District AC and Lincoln Wellington.
The winners of the opening match were Rotherham Harriers who picked up 5 league points and 498 match points, Kingston upon Hull were 2nd with 4 league points and 441 match points, 3rd were Chesterfield & District with 3 league and 435 match points, 4th Doncaster with 2 & 345 and Lincoln Wellington 5th with 1 and 311.
Under 15 Boys
Track Events
The 100 metres sprints saw Jack Singleton running in the ‘A’ race where he took 4th place slashing half a second off his old time and setting a new PB of 13.3 sec. The ‘B’ race saw Gabriel Li La-Vigars, who was making his league debut take 5th place and establish a PB of 15.1 sec. In the 200 metre sprints Jack Singleton took 3rd place in the ‘A’ race running a new PB of 26.7 sec, clipping two tenths of a second off his previous mark. Harvey Southcoat ran the ‘B’ taking 2nd place and he slashed 1.5 seconds off his old time, setting a new PB of 27.2 sec. Oliver Adnitt ran his first 300 metres race taking a 5th place finish in the ‘A’ where he established a PB of 47.4 sec. Jay Greenley made his league debut in the ‘B’ running his first 300 metre race he took 5th place and established a PB of 56.6 sec.
Oliver Adnitt went in the 800 metres ‘A’ race taking a 3rd place finish, running a new PB of 2:24.0 sec, slashing 5.5 seconds off his previous best time. In the 1500 metres race Thomas Smales took 2nd place in the ‘A’ running the three and three quarter lap race in a time of 4:47.5 sec. The ‘B’ race found Harvey Southcoat, running his first race over the distance, take 4th place and establish a PB of 5:26.6 sec. Jack Singleton was in further action, this time in his specialist event. He was the winner of the 80 metre hurdles race and ran a PB of 13.1 sec.
Field Events
Oliver Adnitt and Harvey Southcoat were in action together in the high jump competition where Oliver took 2nd place going clear at a height of 1.43 metres a new PB, and a three centimetre increase on his previous best. Harvey took 2nd place in the ‘B’ clearing at a new PB height of 1.30 metres a 5 centimetre increase on his old mark. The long jump competition saw Connor Pickering put in a season’s best leap of 4.74 metres for 2nd place in the ‘A’ and Fabian Vidal took 2nd place in the ‘B’ jumping a new PB of 4.63 metres adding 35 centimetres to his old best. Connor Pickering and Alex Chivers covered the shot event where Connor won the ‘A’ throwing a new PB of 10.32 metres an increase of 1.95 metres on his previous best, and Alex Chivers took 2nd place in the ‘B’ with his throw of 7.25 metres.
Fabian Vidal and Alex Chivers were in action in the discus event, where Fabian threw a new PB of 19.82 metres an increase of 4.22 metres on his old best, to take 2nd place in the ‘A’ and Alex Chivers was the winner of the ‘B’ with a throw of 17.30 metres. The javelin event saw Connor Pickering and Alex Chivers back together, Connor won the ‘A’ with a huge new PB adding 9.13 metres to his old best to set a new PB of 32.70 metres. Alex was the winner of the ‘B’ with his throw of 22.81 metres.
Under 15 Girls
Track Events
Daisy Logan and Pippa Gouldson ran in the 100 and 200 metre sprint races. In the 100 metres ‘A’ race Daisy Logan took 2nd place, running a new PB of 13.1s clipping one 10th of a second off her old best. Pippa Gouldson was the winner of the ‘B’ clipping 2 tenths off her old best setting a new PB of 14.3 sec. The 200 metres race saw Daisy take another 2nd place in the ‘A’ running a time of 26.6 sec, and Pippa took 2nd in the ‘B’ slashing 1.3 seconds off her old mark, setting a new PB of 29.3 sec. Ella Shaw-Hall took 3rd place in 300 metre sprint ‘A’ race where she slashed 2.3s off her old best, running a new PB of 49.0 sec. The 800 metre races paired Emilia Russell and Ella Shaw-Hall. Emilia covered the ‘A’ race where she ran a time of 2:34.5 sec for a 3rd place finish, whilst Ella posted her second PB of the day in the ‘B’ where she was the race winner and slashed 4 seconds off her best to post a new PB of 2:39.5 sec. Amy Rotherey made her league debut at this meeting, running in the 1500 metre race where she was a 5th place finisher and established a PB of 6:02.8 sec. Lauren McClean was the winner of the 75 metre hurdles ‘A’ race where she clipped half a second of her old best, setting a new PB of 13.0 sec. Pippa Gouldson took 2nd place in the 75 hurdles ‘B’ and she too set a new PB 15.9 sec an improvement of 1.9s on her old mark.
Field Events
Lauren McClean and Emilia Russell covered the high jump competition. Lauren was the winner of the ‘A’ clearing a height of 1.53 metres, whilst Emilia won the ‘B’ going clear at her personal best height of 1.45 metres. The same two athletes were in action in the long jump with Emilia taking3rd place in the ‘A’ with a season’s best leap of 4.06 metres and Lauren was 2nd in the ‘B’ with her jump of 3.91 metres. The shot, discus and javelin events were covered by Holly Adams and Esther Savage. In the shot Holly was the winner of the ‘A’ with a throw of 11.03 metres. Esther took 4th in the ‘B’ with her throw of 5.63 metres which saw her establish a new PB with the 3kg shot. Holly also won the discus ‘A’ where she threw a distance of 27.20 metres and Esther took 3rd place in the ‘B’ throwing a new PB of 13.33 metres a improvement of 91 centimetres on her previous best. The girls made it a double victory in the javelin with Holly winning the ‘A’ with her throw of 27.66 metres. Whilst Esther launched a season’s best throw of 21.88 metres to take victory in the ‘B’.
Under 13 Boys
Track Events
Training partners Noah Sibary and Max Wight made their league debuts together in the 100 metre sprints. Noah took 2nd place in the ‘A’ running a new PB of 14.7 sec, clipping 2 tenths of a second off his old time. Max took 2nd place in the ‘B’ which was his first 100 metre race and established a PB of 15.5 sec. The 200 metres saw William Fairburn making his league debut, running his first 200 metre race he took 4th place in the ‘A’ and established a PB of 31.1 sec. Max Wright made his 200 metre debut in the ‘B’ taking 2nd place and he also established a PB of 31.1 sec. Noah Sibary returned to action in the 800 metres ‘A’ taking 2nd place in the race, slashing 3 seconds off his best time to post a new PB of 2:25.3 sec. In the ‘B’ race Finlay Southcoat ran a season’s best time of 2:47.2 sec for 2nd place. The 1500 metres saw Max Wright take 3rd place in the ‘A’ running a time of 5:31.4 sec and William Fairburn who was running his first 1500 race took 3rd place in the ‘B’ and established a PB of 5:20.0 sec.
Field Events
Noah Sibary and Finlay Southcoat were back together in the long jump where Noah took 2nd place in the ‘A’ with a season’s best leap of 4.07 sec and Finlay took 2nd in the ‘B’ with his jump of 3.59 metres. Finlay Southcoat was the winner of the shot ‘A’ throwing a new PB of 7.44 metres an improvement of 6 centimetres. Ben Russell was the winner of the shot ‘B’ where he too threw a new PB of 5.10 metres an improvement of 11 centimetres. The javelin event saw Ben Russell and William Fairburn competing in their first javelin competition. Ben took 4th place in the ‘A’ where he established a PB of 12.92 centimetres and William was 5th in the ‘B’ and established a PB of 3.50 metres.
Under 13 Girls
Track Events
Tilly Cairns and Libby Hakney covered the 75 and 150 metre sprints. Tilly was the winner of the 75 metres ‘A’ and slashed 7 tenths off her old time to register a new PB of 10.5 sec. In the ‘B’ Libby took 2nd place running a new PB of 10.7 sec an improvement of 4 tenths. The 150 metres ‘A’ saw Tilly complete the sprint double winning the race in a new PB of 20.6 sec an improvement of 2 tenths and Libby was the winner of the ‘B’ slashing half a second off her old time to set a new PB of 20.7 sec. Emma Hoggard was in action in the 800 metres ‘A’ taking 2nd place in the race and running a new PB of 2:46.0 sec an improvement of 6 tenths. Meabh Brannigan was the winner of the ‘B’ running a new PB of 2:36.0 sec, a improvement of 8.3 seconds. Anya Beetham ran in her first 1200 metre race taking 4th place in the ‘A’ and established a PB of 4:41.9 sec.
Field Events
Izzy Watts and Tonisha Pickering were in competition in the high jump, Izzy took 4th place in the ‘A’ with a clearance of 1.25 metres and Tonisha 2nd place in the ‘B’ with her clearance at 1.20 metres which was a new PB an improvement of 5 centimetres. Tonisha jumped a new PB of 3.89 metres in the long jump ‘A’ a improvement of 17 centimetres for a 4th place finish and Freya Vidal jumped a seasons best of 3.52 metres in the ‘B’ for 3rd place. Izzy Watts was the winner of the shot putt throwing a new PB of 7.96 metres an improvement of 29 centimetres and Beth Moodie threw a new PB of 5.74 metres an improvement of 69 centimetres for 2nd place in the ‘B’. Izzy was the winner of the javelin ‘A’ throwing a new PB 19.62 metres an improvement of 1.15 metres and Beth took 2nd place in the ‘B’ where she threw a new PB of 15.72 metres an improvement of 3.3 metres.
RELAYS
Under 13 Girls – 4 x 100 Metres
The Kingston team of Tilly Cairns, Libby Hakney, Charlotte Lawson and Meabh Brannigan were the winners of the race and they ran a time of 56.8 sec.
Under 15 Girls – 4 x 100 Metres
The Kingston quartet of Daisy Logan, Pippa Gouldson, Holly Adams and Lauren McClean were the race winners and the team ran a time of 54.5 sec.
Under 15 Girls – 4 x 300 Metres
The Kingston Foursome of Emilia Russell, Ella Shaw-Hall, Amy Rotherey and Esther Savage took 4th place in the race and ran a time of 3:26.0 sec.
Non Scoring Races
Under 13 Girls – 75 Metres (‘A’ Race)
Freya Vidal was the winner of the race running a new PB of 11.3 sec an improvement of two tenths of a second.
Under 13 Girls – 75 Metres (‘B’ Race)
Charlotte Lawson was the winner of the ‘B’ race which she ran in her personal best time of 11.5 sec.
