Under 13 & Under 15 Inter Counties Meeting

Harvey Hadden Stadium Nottingham – Saturday 8th September 2018

The 2018 Inter Counties meeting, for athletes in the under13 and under 15 age category, took place at the Harvey Hadden Stadium, in Nottingham, on Saturday the 8th of September. The match was contested by seven County teams, Derbyshire, Humberside, Leicestershire & Rutland, Lincolnshire, Nottinghamshire, South Yorkshire and Warwickshire. The 45 strong Humberside team consisted of 23 Kingston upon Hull athletes, 9 from Scunthorpe, 8 from Cleethorpes, two apiece from Grimsby and Fit Mums and one from Goole Youth. A total of 342 athletes were in competition at the meeting.

The Warwickshire team were the match winners accruing a total of 572 points, South Yorkshire took 2nd place with 502 points. Derbyshire came 3rd with 459 and Leicestershire & Rutland 4th with 435. In 5th were Nottinghamshire with 432.5, Humberside 6th on 375.5 and Lincolnshire 7th on 262 points.

Kingston’s Holly Adams had a very good day, winning the under 15 girls throws, athlete of the match award.

TRACK RESULTS

Under 13 Boys

The 75 metres hurdles saw Toby Greensmith, making his County debut in the ‘A’ race, where he took 4th place, running a time of 14.55 sec. Scunthorpe’s Oliver Chant took 4th place in the ‘B’ race, with his run of 16.13 sec. Toby saw further action in the 100 metres ‘A’, taking 7th place, clocking a time of 15.50 sec. Clubmate Noah Sibary made his Inter County debut in the 100 ‘B’ where he took 6th place, with his run of 14.84 sec. Max Wright made his Inter County debut in the 200 metres ‘A’, taking 7th place with his run of 31.71 sec. Jack Wright of Cleethorpes was the 7th place finisher in the 200 ‘B’ with his run of 34.93 sec. The 1500 metres was an all south bank affair. Kieran Davis of Scunthorpe took 7th place in the ‘A’ with his run of 5:12.27 sec. Grimsby athlete Adam Ewing, was the 6th place finisher in the ‘B’, running a time of 5:34.50 sec.

Under 13 Girls

The 100 metres sprints were an all Kingston affair. Libby Hakney took 3rd place in the ‘A’, on her Inter County debut, running a time of 13.93 sec. Also making her Inter debut was her training partner Tilly Cairns who was the winner of the ‘B’ with her run of 13.73 sec. The 200 metres saw Libby back in action in the ‘A’ race, where she took 4th place, clocking a time of 29.06 sec. Natalie Walsh of Goole Youth took 4th place in the ‘B’ with her run of 30.13 sec. In the 70 metre hurdles race Ellie Cartledge of Scunthorpe took 5th in the ‘A’ in 12.82 sec.

The 1200 metres was an all Cleethorpes affair, with Emily Davies taking 6th place in the ‘A’, with her run of 4:07.70 sec. Chloe Phillips was the 5th place finisher in the ‘B’, clocking a time of 4:09.70 sec.

Under 13 Boy’s

Noah Sibary saw further competition in the long jump ‘A’, where he took 7th place with his leap of 4.07 metres. Will Jolly of Fit Mums, was the 6th place finisher in the ‘B’ with 3.97 metres. The high jump ‘A’, saw a 5th place finish from Toby Greensmith, who went clear at a height of 1.35 metres. The shot putt saw Finlay Southcoat, making his second appearance at the Inter Counties event. He took 6th place in the ‘A’ with his throw of 7.35 metres. In the ‘B’ Daniel Smith of Cleethorpes, was the 5th place finisher, throwing a distance of 5.82 metres.

Under 13 Girl’s

The shot was an all Kingston affair, with training partners  Izzy Watts and Lydia Moore, both making their Inter debuts. Izzy took 4th place in the ‘A’, with her throw of 7.90 metres, whilst Lydia took 3rd place in the ‘B’ with a throw of 7.50 metres. In the long jump ‘A’, Ava Gregory of Scunthorpe took 6th place with a leap of 4.07 metres. Isabella Cadey of Cleethorpes, was the 5th place finisher in the ‘B’, with her jump of 3.99 metres. The high jump competition saw Isabella Cadey take 4th place in the ‘A’, clearing a height of 1.35 metres. Izzy Watts was the 4th place finisher in the ‘B’ with her clearance at 1.20 metres.

Under 15 Boys

Jack Singleton ran in the ‘A’ race of the 80 metre hurdles, where he took 5th place and ran a time of 13.32 sec. He was also in action in the 100 metres sprints, taking 7th place in the ‘A’ with his run of 13.19 sec. Oliver Barlow of Fit Mums took a 6th place finish in the 100 ‘B’, clocking a time of 12.97 sec. Lewis Melling made his Inter counties debut in the 200 metres ‘A’, taking a 7th place finish and recording a time of 26.30 sec. Oliver Barlow’s run of 26.94 sec in the 200 ‘B’, gave him a 5th place finish. The 300 metres was another all Kingston affair, with Adam Fox taking 5th place in the ‘A’ running a new PB of 40.08 sec, an improvement of 0.41 sec. Training partner Harvey Southcoat made his Inter Counties debut in the 300 ‘B’, he took 5th place, running a new PB of 41.70 sec, an improvement of 2.21 sec. Two Kingston athletes were involved in the 800 metres. Adam Fox ran the ‘A’, where he took a 4th place finish, running a time of 2:15.40 sec. Oliver Adnitt made his Inter Counties debut running in the ‘B’, where he also took a 4th place finish, clocking a time of of 2:13.50 sec. The 1500 metres was another all Kingston race. Thomas Smales took 5th place in the ‘A’, running a time of 4:37.31 sec. In the ‘B’ Ashton Davis, making his Inter Counties debut, took 7th place in the ‘B’, with his run of 5:00.66 sec.

Under 15 Boys

Oliver Adnitt was in further competition in the high jump ‘A’, where he took 6th place, going clear at a new PB height of 1.55 metres, an improvement of one centimetre. Oliver saw more action in the Long jump, taking 6th place in the ‘B’ with a leap of 4.37 metres. Fit Mums Oliver Barlow, took 5th place in the ‘A’, with his jump of 5.17 metres. The discus paired together Kingston’s Connor Pickering and Alex Chivers. Connor was the 5th place finisher in the ‘A’, with his throw of 24.89 metres. In the ‘B’ Alex took 4th place with his throw of 21.49 metres. The two were back in tandem in the shot putt, where Connor took 5th place in the ‘A’ with his throw of 11.04 metres. In the ‘B, Alex also took a 5th place finish with his effort of 7.87 metres. In the javelin competition Connor Pickering took 3rd place in the ‘A’, with his throw of 32.59 metres. Gabriel Li La-Vigars making his Inter Counties debut in the javelin ‘B’, took 4th place with his throw of 24.92metres.

Under 15 Girls

The 75 Metres hurdles saw Lauren McClean take 5th place in the ‘A’, running a time of 12.74 sec. Charlotte Cavill of Scunthorpe, was the 3rd placed athlete in the ‘B’ and she clocked a time of 13.26 sec. The 100 metre sprints featured two Scunthorpe athletes. The ‘A’ runner was Naiomi Mwambire who took 5th place, running a time of 13.50 sec. In the ‘B’, Amelia Proctor also took a 5th place finish, clocking a time of 13.79 sec. The 200 metres sprints saw Naiomi Mwambire taking 3rd place in the ‘A’ with her run of 27.64 sec. In the ‘B’ race Katelyn Howden of Cleethorpes was the 4th place finisher, running a time of 28.45 sec. In the 800 metres, Cleethorpes’ Ella Greenway, was the winner of the ‘A’ race covering the two laps in a time of 2:17.50 sec. Scunthorpes’ Chloe Love took 3rd in place in the ‘B’, with her run of 2:30.19 sec. The 1500 metres saw Charlotte Davies of Cleethorpes, take 6th place in the ‘A’, running a time of 5:32.70 sec. In the ‘B’, Scunthorpes’ Katie Cavill also took a 6th place finish, clocking a time of 5:55.20 sec.

Under 15 Girls

The discus competition featured Holly Adams, the discus bronze medallist at the previous weekends England track & field championships. She threw a new PB of 33.66 metres in the ‘A’ at the Inter counties meeting, an improvement of 60 cm on her throw at the National finals. It also moved her up to the No. 7 ranking in the UK. Making her Inter Counties debut Lucy Bailey-Dalton took 4th place in the ‘B’, throwing a new PB of 17.75 metres, an improvement of 1.84 metres. The long jump event, saw Naiomi Mwambire win the ‘A’ with her leap of 5.14 metres. Emilia Russell took 2nd place in the ‘B’, jumping a new PB of 4.81 metres, an improvement of 20 cm. The shot saw Holly Adams and Lucy Bailey-Dalton back in action again. Holly took 4th place in the ‘A’ with her throw of 9.90 metres. Lucy took 3rd place in the ‘B’, with her putt of 8.96 metres. Lauren McClean took 2nd place in the high jump ‘A’, going clear at a height of 1.50 metres. In the high jump ‘B’ Emilia Russell took 4th place, going clear at 1.40 metres. Scunthorpes Charlotte Cavill took 4th place in the javelin ‘A’, with her throw of 27.88 metres. Holly Adams took 2nd place in the ‘B’, launching the javelin to a distance of 27.24 metres.

 

RELAYS

Under 13 Boys

4 x 100 Metres

The under 13 boys team of Noah Sibary, Will Jolly(fit mums), Max Wright and Scunthorpes Oliver Chant, finished in 6th place and ran a time of 59.54 sec.

 

Under 13 Girls

4 x 100 Metres

The under 13 girls team, were Tilly Cairns, Isabella Cadey(Clee), Libby Hakney and Ava Gregory (Scun). They were the 3rd place finishers running a time of 56.60 sec.

 

Under 15 Boys

Medley Relay

100- 200 – 300 & 400 Metres

This was an all Kingston team. Charlie Parker went first in the 100 metres, handing the baton to Lewis Melling for the 200 metres, Harvey Southhcoat ran the 300 metres and Adam Fox brought them home on the 400 metre leg. The team finished 5th and they ran the race in a time of 2:24.74 sec.

 

Under 15 Girls

4 x 200 Metres

The team consisted of Hollie Bristow (Goole Youth), Katelyn Howden (Clee), Rebecca Westhead (Kingston) and Amelia Proctor (Scun). The girls finished in 6th place and recorded a time of 1:56.92 sec.
