‘Kingston September Open Meeting’
Saturday 15th September – Costello Stadium, Hull
The annual Kingston upon Hull AC September open meeting, was staged at the Costello Stadium, on Saturday 15th of September. As usual this event catered for young athletes, aged between 9 and 16 years. A total of 22 athletic clubs were represented at the open. There was a good turnout of athletes from all of the clubs around the Humber. As well as competitors from clubs in, North, South and West Yorkshire, Lincolnshire and the Midlands, made the journey to Hull.
Details of all performances by Kingston athletes at the meeting are as follows.
Under 11 Boys
Thomas Swift made his club debut at Mays Grimsby Open, where was involved in the boys 80 metre sprints and the long jump. He competed in both events at the Kingston Open, winning the 80 metres race where he established an electronic time 12.47 sec. He jumped a new PB of 3.81 metres for victory in the long jump event. An improvement of 2cm. Tom Frost, took 2nd place in the 80 metres running a time of 13.00 sec. He also was a 9th place finisher in the long jump, putting in a leap of 3.30 metres. Lucas Starling was the 4th place finisher in the 80 metres, where he ran a time of 14.00 sec. He also ran in his first 150 metre race, finishing in 5th place and establishing a PB of 26.45 sec. Lucas also contested the long jump, where he took 10th place, jumping a new PB of 3.11 metres, an improvement of 39cm.
Under 11 Girls
Chloe Sutton took 2nd place in race 1 of the 80 metres, where she ran a time of 12.81 sec. Amelia Fraser was the 4th place finisher in the same race, running a time of 14.61 sec. Eliza Starling was the winner of the second 80 metres race, where she ran a time of 13.16 sec. Making her club debut in race 2, was 8 year old Ruby Farr who took 2nd place and established a PB of 13.18 sec. Chloe Sutton and Amelia Fraser were in action in race 1 of the 150 metres. Chloe was the winner of the race, running a time of 23.98 sec. Amelia who was running in her first 150 metres race, took 5th place and established a PB of 27.99 sec. Ruby Farr was the winner of the second 150 metres race, establishing a PB of 25.26 sec. The 600 metres race saw Tilly Shaw-Hall make her club debut. She took 9th place in the race and established a PB of 2:41.43 sec. In the long jump event Ruby Farr took 5th place and established a PB of 3.11 metres. Amelia Fraser took 9th place, jumping a new PB of 2.93 metres, an improvement of 31cm. Eliza Starling took 11th place jumping a new PB of 2.74 metres an improvement of 7cm. Tilly Shaw-Hall took 12th place and jumped a new PB of 2.61 metres, an improvement of 11cm.
Under 13 Boys
Nathan Hope is now in his third year with the club. He is a member of the Kingston junior team, where he covers sprints and long jump. He was in action in both events at this meeting. He took 4th place in the 100 metres, running a time of 16.12 sec. William Rusling made his debut at this Aprils Spring Open. He took 5th place in the 100 metres, where he established a PB of 16.23 sec. Finlay Southcoat is an experienced athlete who has won County recognition. He was the winner of the 200 metre sprint, with his run of 30.53 sec. William Fairburn was the 3rd place finisher in the 200 metres, clocking a time of 31.39 sec. The two William’s, were in action together in the 800 metres race. William Fairburn took 4th place running a new PB of 2:45.33 sec, an improvement of 8.56s. Whilst William Rusling was the 5th place finisher, running a new PB of 3:05.61 sec, an improvement of 6.69s. Nathan Hope and William Rusling, were in further competition in the long jump. Nathan took 3rd place with his leap of 3.69 metres. William took a 5th place finish, jumping a new PB of 3.28 metres, an improvement of 19cm. The Javelin event saw Finlay Southcoat take 5th place, throwing a new PB of 18.38 metres, an improvement of 18cm. Zach Wilkinson was the 6th place finisher, with a new PB of 17.88 metres, an improvement of 1.23m.
Under 13 Girls
Four Kingston athletes took part in the 100 metre sprint race. County champion Tilly Cairns was the winner of the race, running a time 14.10 sec. County silver medallist, Libby Hakney took 2nd place, just one hundredth of a second behind her training partner, in 14.11 sec. 4th place went to Izzy Watts, whose run of 16.08 sec was her fastest electronic time. The 6th place finisher was Jessica Coates, who also ran her fastest electronic time of 16.46 sec. Tilly Cairns was the winner of the 200 metres, running a new PB of 28.28 sec. an improvement of 2 hundredths. Libby Hakney took 2nd place, with her run of 29.95 sec. Middle distance runner Emma Hoggard, was the 3rd place finisher, clocking her fastest electronic time of 31.93 sec. Meabh Brannigan was the winner of the 800 metres race, where she ran a time of 2:31.58 sec. Emma Hoggard took 4th place, running a time of 2:40.08 sec. Beth Moodie’s run of 14.79 sec in the 70 metre hurdles race saw her take a 4th place finish. The long jump, saw three more girls return to competition. Beth Moodie took 3rd place, jumping a new PB of 3.79 metres, an improvement of 7cm. Izzy Watts took 5th, with her jump of 3.62 metres. Jessica Coates’ jump of 3.28 metres, gave her a 10th place finish. Lydia Moore was the 2nd place finisher in the discus event, throwing a new PB of 17.97 metres, an improvement of 5.2m. Beth Moodie was the winner of the javelin event, where she threw a new PB of 25.17 metres, an improvement of 2 metres. Izzy Watts took 2nd place, launching a new PB of 20.62 metres, an improvement of 19 cm. Lydia Moore took 6th place with her throw of 14.21 metres.
Under 15 Boys
Lewis Melling, who made his debut in the Humber track league this June, was the winner of the 100 metres race 1, running a time of 12.97sec. Ashton Davis took 4th place, with his run of 13.76 sec. County bronze medallist Charlie Parker, took 5th place in the race, running a time of 13.85 sec. In race 2 of the 100 metres, Gabriel Li La-Vigars was the 3rd place finisher, with his run of 14.54 sec. In the 200 metres Lewis Melling took 3rd place, clocking a time of 26.03 sec. Harvey Southcoat took 5th place in the race, recording a time of 27.11 sec. Charlie Parkers’ run of 28.37 sec, gave him a 7th place finish. County silver medallist Adam Fox, took 2nd place in the 300 metres race, running a time of 41.88 sec. 3rd place went to Harvey Southcoat, with his run of 42.42 sec. Thomas Smales totally controlled the 1500 metres race, with a great display of front running, he ran a new PB of 4:36.17 sec, an improvement of 0.45 sec. Ashton Davis took 3rd place, running a time of 5:04.36 sec. The long jump competition, saw Adam Fox take 6th place with his jump of 4.38 metres. In 7th place was Gabriel Li La-Vigars who leapt to a new PB of 3.99 metres, an improvement of 10cm. Alex Chivers was the winner of the discus event, where he threw a new PB of 22.31 metres, an improvement of 50cm. Alex was also the winner of the javelin, launching a new PB of 27.40 metres, an improvement of 1.74m. County bronze medallist Gabriel Li La-Vigars, took 2nd place and he too threw a new PB of 26.11 metres, an improvement of 45cm.
Under 15 Girls
Four Kingston athletes ran in the 100 metres sprint race. Elsa Thompson, who was making her club debut, was the winner of the race, establishing a PB of 13.88 sec. Lois Richardson took 2nd place with her run of 14.21 sec. 4th place went to Rebecca Westhead, who ran a time of 14.62 sec. Ella Frost took 5th place, clocking a time of 15.33 sec. Elsa Thompson completed her first sprint double in the 200 metres, where she established a PB of 27.87 sec. Emilia Russell took 2nd place, running a new PB of 29.11 sec, an improvement of 3/10ths of a sec. Lois Richardson was the 3rd place finisher, she too ran a new PB of 29.58 sec, an improvement of 1.16sec. Georgina North, running in her first 200 race, took 6th place and established a PB of 34.27 sec. Ella Shaw-Hall took 2nd place in the 300 metres race, running a time of 49.02 sec. The 1500 metres saw Amy Rothery take a 5th place finish, running a new PB of 5:59.51 sec, an improvement of 1.27 sec. 6th place went to her training partner Georgina North with her run of 6:01.30 sec. Rebecca Westhead took 2nd place in the 75 metre hurdles race, running a time of 14.90 sec. Eve Anderson was the 3rd place finisher, clocking a time of 15.64 sec. Emilia Russell took 2nd place in the long jump, with her leap of 4.44 metres. Elsa Thompson took 3rd place and established a PB of 4.24 metres. Eve Anderson was the 4th place finisher, she equalled her PB of 4.07 metres. Ella Shaw-Hall took 7th place with her season’s best jump of 3.75 metres. In the discus, Holly Adams the 2018 England bronze medallist, Northern Champion and County champion, was the winner of the event, with her throw of 31.84 metres. Lucy Bailey-Dalton took 2nd place with her throw of 17.37 metres. Emilia Russell took 2nd place in the javelin, where she threw a new PB of 25.12 metres, an improvement of 46cm. Eve Anderson took 3rd place with her throw of 19.12 metres.
Under 17 women
Jodie Martin was the winner of the 100 metres race . She ran a new PB of 13.55 sec, an improvement of 0.33 sec. Ellie Townsend was also in action in the 100 metres, where she took 4th place, running a time of 14.81 sec. Jodie Martin saw further competition in the 300 metres race. She was the winner of the race, running a time of 42.80 sec. The long jump featured a head to head between the Townsend twins. Ellie was the winner of the competition, leaping to a new PB of 4.77 metres, an improvement of 23cm. Jess Townsend took 2nd place, she too jumped a new PB of 4.14 metres, an improvement of 99cm. The 3rd place finisher was Amelia Turnbull, making her competitive debut, she established a PB of 3.77 metres. Jess Townsend saw more action, this time on home ground in the discus circle, where she was the winner of the event, putting in a throw of 26.59 metres.
