UK YDL (Upper) Div. East 2 Spinkhill May 23, 2019 UK Youth Development League – East 2 Spinkhill, Sheffield – Sunday 5th May 2019 The Kingston Youth team’s opening fixture, of the 2019 track & field season, was staged at Spinkhill, Sheffield on Sunday the 5th of May. It was an eight team competition, and our opposing teams, were Chesterfield & District, Grimsby and Louth, Spenborough & District, Bingley Harriers & AC, Hallamshire Harriers, Lincoln Wellington AC, and Scunthorpe & District. It was a chilly day, with a few sunny spells, light rain and drizzle, and a cold wind. The winners of the match were, Chesterfield who collected 8 league points, and 622 match points. Kingston took 2nd place, with 7 league and 572 match points, 3rd with 6 league and 571 match points, were Hallamshire. Bingley took 4th place, with 5 and 445 points, Spenborough were 5th, with 4 and 354 points. In 6th place, were Lincoln Wellington with 3 and 214 points, Scunthorpe were 7th, with 2 and 197, 8th place went to Grimsby & Louth, with one league point and 103 match points. Performance Details for all of the Kingston Athletes are as follows Under 20 Men Sprints/Hurdles The 100 metres sprints, saw Adam Coles take a 5th place finish, in the ‘A’ race, running a time of 11.8 sec. Nathan Cuthbert took 2nd place in the ‘B’ , with his run of 11.9 sec. in the 200 metres, Nathan Cuthbert took a 3rd place finish in the ‘A’. The 110 metres hurdles race, saw Northern champion Adam Coles, take 2nd place, running a t PB of 15.7 sec. Field Events Shaun Kerry, was the winner of both the shot and discus ‘A’ competitions. The Northern silver medallist, put in a throw of 13.56 metres, to secure victory in the shot. He threw a season’s best effort of 31.54 metres, in the discus event, to take his second victory of the day. Adam Coles, competing in his first discus event since 2013, took 2nd place in the ‘B’, establishing a PB of 19.88 metres. Under 20 Women Field Events Abbie Haigh, was the winner of the high jump ‘A’, where she cleared a season’s best height of 1.45 metres. She also picked up a second victory, this time in the triple jump ‘A’, where she registered a jump of 9.27 metres. Becky Chivers was in action in both the shot and javelin ‘A’ events. Her throw of 7.01 metres in the shot, gave her a 5th place finish. She took 4th place in the javelin, with her throw of 17.40 metres. Becky was suffering with a knee injury, which affected her performances. Under 17 athlete Lucy Bailey-Dalton, competed in the under 20’s discus ’A’, where she took 6th place, throwing the heavier 4kg discus, for the first time, she registered a throw of 15.77 metres, establishing a PB. Under 17 Men Sprints The 100 metre sprints, saw Harvey Southcoat take 6th place, in the ‘A’, running a time of 13.0 sec. In the ‘B’ Jack Singleton was the 2nd place finisher, he too clocked a time of 13.0 sec. In the 200 metres ‘A’ race, Jack Singleton took a 5th place finish, clocking a time of 27.2 sec. Harvey Southcoat ran the ‘B’, taking a 3rd place finish, with his run of 26.9 sec. The 400 metres sprints, saw Harvey Southcoat take 3rd place in the ‘A’, running a time of 57.7 sec, slashing 1.6 sec, off his previous best. Ashton Davis, running in his first 400 metres race, took 3rd place in the ‘B’, where he established a PB of 59.8 sec. Hurdles Jack Singleton was the winner of the 100 metres ‘A’ race, running a new PB of 15.9 sec, chopping four tenths of a second, off his old time. Middle Distance Adam Fox ran the 800 metres ‘A’ race, covering the two laps, in a time of 2:07.2 sec, to take a 3rd place finish. Oliver Adnitt, was the winner of the 800 ‘B’, running a time of 2:11.9 sec. Harry Hudson was the winner of the 1500 metres ‘A’, where he ran a time of 4:15.6 sec. In the 3000 metres, Thomas Smales took 3rd place in the ‘A’, covering the 7 and a half laps, in a time of 9:58.8 sec. Field Events Oliver Adnitt, was the winner of the high jump ‘A’, going clear at a new PB height of 1.70 metres, 10cm above his previous best. Further action came in the long jump ‘A’, where he was the 3rd place finisher, with his leap of 5.10 metres. Connor Pickering was the winner of the long jump ‘B’, with his leap of 5.04 metres. Ashton Davis, who was competing in his first triple jump competition, took 3rd place in the ‘A’, and established a PB of 9.28 metres. Connor Pickering, was the winner of the shot ‘A’, throwing a new PB of 11.93 metres, an improvement of 22cm. Antony Mould was the winner of the shot ‘B’, with his throw of 8.75 metres. Antony was also the winner of the discus ‘B’, with his throw of 34.06 metres. Under 17 Women Sprints Daisy Logan took 2nd place, in the 100 metres ‘A’ race, running her season’s best time of 13.2 sec. Alanah Thoresby was the winner of the ‘B’ race, running a new PB of 13.5 sec, shaving one tenth off her previous mark. Jodie Martin, was the winner of 200 metres ‘A’ race, clocking a time of 27.2 sec. Emily Dye, was the winner of the ‘B’, running a time of 28.1 sec. Jodie was in further action, in the 300 metres ‘A’, where she took a 2nd place finish, running a time of 42.9 sec. Middle Distance & Distance Ella Shaw-Hall, represented Kingston in the 1500 metres race, where she took a 3rd place finish, running a time of 2:33.7 sec. Hermione Pickering, competed in the 3000 metres ‘A’ race, her first run over the distance, on a track. She took 2nd place, and established a PB of 11:17.6 sec. Hurdles Lauren McClean, was the winner of the 80 metre hurdles ‘A’ race, running a new PB of 12.9 sec. Eve Anderson, was the winner of the 300 metre hurdles ‘A’, where she ran a time of 51.8 sec. Field Events Emily Dye, took 2nd place in the long jump ‘A’, with her season’s best jump of 4.93 metres. Ellie Townsend, was the winner of the ‘B’, with her season’s best effort of 4.46 metres. In the high jump, Alanah Thoresby was the winner of the ‘A’, with her clearance at a height of 1.50 metres. Eve Anderson, was the winner of the high jump ‘B’, clearing a height of 1.35 metres. The triple jump, paired together Evie Watson and Eve Anderson. Evie took 3rd place in the ‘A’, with her jump of 9.15 metres. Eve was the winner of the ‘B’, jumping a new PB of 9.11 metres, 5cm beyond her previous best. In the shot event Lucy Bailey-Dalton, took 2nd place in the ‘A’, throwing a new PB of 9.65 metres, 57cm beyond her previous best. In the ‘B’, Lauren McClean was the event winner, with her throw of 7.99 metres. The women’s discus, saw Jess Townsend, take 2nd place in the ‘A’, with her throw of 26.20 metres. Training partner Faye Oliver was the winner of the ‘B’ throwing a new PB of 25.88 metres, an improvement of 1.48 metres. RELAYS Under 17 Women 4 x 100 Metres The Kingston quartet of Ellie Townsend, Jodie Martin, Daisy Logan and Lauren McClean, were the winners of the relay, running a time of 53.6 sec. Under 17 Women 4 x 300 metres The Kingston four of Emily Dye, Ella Shaw-Hall, Alanah Thoresby, and Hermione Pickering, were the 2nd place finishers, the team ran a time of 3:13.7 sec. Under 17 Men 4 x 400 Metres The members of the under 17 men’s team, were Adam Fox, Oliver Adnitt, Tom Smales and Ashton Davis, who were the race winners, running a time of 3:51.3 sec. Under 20 Men 4 x 100 Metres The members of the under 20’s team were Jack Singleton, Adam Coles, Harvey Southcoat, and Nathan Cuthbert, who were the 4th place finishers, clocking a time of 48.5 sec.
