2019 England Track & Field Championships
Under 23’s & Under 20’s
Bedford – Saturday 22nd/Sunday 23rd June
The England track and field Championships, for under 23 and under 20 athletes, were held at the Bedford International Stadium, on the weekend of the 22nd and 23rd of June. Seven Kingston athletes, made their way down, to the south east, to compete at the championship meeting. The performances details of the 7 Kingston athletes, are as follows.
Under 23’s
Andrew Morgan-Harrison, was in competition, in the 200 metres sprints. The 2018, 200 metres bronze medallist at the British Championships, was drawn to run in the third heat, where he took 2nd place, running a time of 21.32 sec, which gave him a place in the final. In the 200 metres final, he ran his season’s best time of 21.28 sec, which gave him a 5th place finish.
Baldvin Magnusson, the 2018 under 20, 3000 metres silver medallist in, is back at home for the summer, from Eastern Michigan University. This year he ran in the 5000 metres final, where he took 4th place, running his season’s best time of 14:56.04 sec.
Charlotte Paterson, the 60 metres bronze medallist, at this January’s Northern indoor Championships, contested the 400 metre sprints, at the England event. She was drawn to run in heat 3, where she took a 4th place finish, running a time of 57.17 sec. She missed out on the cut for the final.
Alice Barnsdale, is another athlete who studies in the USA, she is at Maryland University, and is also back with us for the summer. She was the under 20’s hammer silver medallist, at the 2018 England Championships. This is her first year, at under23, and she was in action in at this meeting, in the women’s Hammer final, where she took 7th place, with her throw of 57.08 metres.
Under 20’s
Shaun Kerry, was the under 17’s hammer silver medallist, at the 2018 England event. This year he has moved up to the under 20’s. At this June’s Northern Championship meeting, He won the hammer gold, and shot silver medals. He contested both of the events again, down at Bedford. He took 4th place in the hammer final, with a throw of 63.73 metres. In the shot final, he took 8th place, throwing a new PB of 14.12 metres, a 5 cm improvement.
Adam Coles, won the Northern indoor, 60 metre hurdles title, at this January’s Championship meeting. He backed this up at June’s Northern track & field Championships, where he was the silver medallist in the 110 metres hurdles. Adam ran in heat one of the 110 metre hurdles, where he took 7th place, and failed to make the cut for the final.
