North of England Track & Field League – Division 2EC
Costello Stadium, Hull – 14th July 2019
The Kingston senior team’s third fixture, of the 2019 track & field season, was staged at the Costello Stadium, in Hull on Sunday the 16th of June. Our opposing team’s, were once again, Sheffield & Dearne, Derby, Doncaster, Hallamshire, and Rotherham.
The winners of the match, were Rotherham, who collected 6 league points, and 400 match points. Kingston took 2nd place, with 5 league and 395 match points. 3rd with 4 league and 326 match points, were Sheffield & Dearne. Hallamshire took 4th place, with 3 and 318 points, Doncaster were 5th, with 2 and 295. 6th place went to Derby, with 1 league and 287 5 match points.
The 4th and final match, of the 2019 season, will take place, at the Herringthorpe Stadium, in Rotherham, on Saturday the 10th of August.
The Kingston squad, was a mix of senior, under20’s under17’s, and Masters athletes.
Performance Details for all of the Kingston Athletes are as follows
Men’s Sprints
The 100 metres, saw Joe Cooper, take 4th place in the ‘A’ race, running his season’s best time of 11.06 sec. Josh Sampson’s run of 11.54 sec, in the ‘B’, gave him a 2nd place finish. In the 200 metres ‘A’ Joe Cooper, took a 3rd place finish, running a time of 22.72 sec. In the ‘B’ David Morgan-Harrison, was the winner of the race, clocking a time of 22.98 sec. The 400 metres sprints, saw Adam Fox take 5th place in the ‘A’, running a time of 58.83 sec. In the ‘B’ Oliver Adnitt, took a 4th place finish, with his run of 55.86 sec.
Women’s Sprints
Megan Hoult, Kingston’s number one female sprinter, took 2nd place in the 100 metres ‘A’, running a time of 12.51 sec. Heptathlete Venus Morgan, took a 2nd place finish in the ‘B’, clocking a time of 12.55 sec. Megan was in action again in the 200 metres ‘A’, taking a 3rd place finish, running a time of 26.54 sec. Amelia Proctor’s run of 27.26 sec in the 200 ‘B’ race, saw her also take a 3rd place finish. Jess Cappleman ran the 400 metres ‘A’, taking 4th place, with her run of 64.80 sec. Jess Fields, ran the 400 ‘B’, where she too took a 4th place finish, clocking a time of 67.19 sec.
Men’s Middle Distance
Adam Fox, saw further action, in the 800 metres ‘A’ race, where the 15 year old, took a 6th place finish, running the 2 laps, in a time of 2:04.01 sec. Masters athlete, Gregan Clarkson took 6th place in the ‘B’, running his season’s best time of 2:32.77 sec. The 1500 metres ‘A’, was covered by Thomas Smales, another 15 year old who took a 6th place finish, running the metric mile, in a time of 4:25.97 sec. At the other end of the scale, the ‘B’ race featured a (V70) road runner, Paul Clark who was running his first 1500 metres race. He took a 6th place finish, and established a PB of 7:55.95 sec.
Women’s Middle Distance
Jess Cappleman, ran the 800 metres ‘A’, where she took a 3rd place finish, covering the 2 laps, in a time of 2:21.66 sec. Hepthathlete Rosie Shepherd, ran the 800 ‘B’, taking a 4th place finish, running a time of 2:49.26 sec. Ella Shaw Hall, stepped up from the 800 metres, and ran her first 1500 metres race. She covered the ‘A’ race, taking a 4th place finish, and established a PB of 5:18.35 sec. Masters athlete, Michelle Sutton, made her 1500 debut in the ‘B’, taking 3rd place in the race, and establishing a PB of 6:07.34 sec.
Men’s Distance
In the men’s 5000 metres ‘A’ race, Gregan Clarkson, took a 2nd place finish, covering the 12.5 laps, in a time of 16:51.17 sec. Thomas Aitchison, took 4th place in the ‘B’, running a time of 29:33.58 sec. The 3000 metres steeplechase, saw Gregan Clarkson, take 2nd place in the ‘A’, running the 7.5 laps, in a time of 11:16.29 sec. Simon Downs, also took a 2nd place finish in the ‘B’, running his season’s best time, of 12:45..52 sec.
Women’s Hurdles
Venus Morgan, was the winner, of the 100 metre hurdles ‘A’ race, running a new PB of 14.57 sec, clipping 9 hundredths, off her old mark. In the ‘B’, Sonia Santos, took a 2nd place finish, running a time of 16.82 sec. Clare Blunt, was the winner of the 400 metre hurdles ‘A’, running a season’s best time of 77.75 sec. Abbie Haigh, took 2nd place in the ‘B’, with her run of 85.54 sec.
Men’s Hurdles
Simon Downs, took a 5th place finish, in the 110 metre high hurdles, running a time of 20.92 sec. In the 400 metre hurdles ‘A’, Simon Downs, was the 4th place finisher, with his run of 64.34 sec. Philip May, took 2nd place in the ‘B’ race, running a new PB of 70.76 sec, an improvement of 1.51 sec.
High Jump
Lauren McClean took 2nd place, in the women’s high jump ‘A’, going clear at a height of 1.45 metres. Rosie Shepherd, was also a 2nd place finisher, in the ‘B’, with her clearance at 1.40 metres. In the men’s event, Oliver Adnitt, took 5th place in the ‘A’, going clear at 1.60 metres. In the ‘B, Simon Downs, took 3rd place, he also went clear at 1.60 metres.
Pole Vault
Clare Blunt, was the winner of the women’s pole vault ‘A’, clearing a height of 3.20 metres. In the men’s event, Simon Downs, took 4th place, in the ‘A’, with his clearance at a height of 2.60 metres.
Long Jump
In the men’s competition, Adam Coles, took a 4th place finish in the ‘A’, with his leap of 6.22 metres. James Wardle, was the winner of the ‘B’, with his jump of 5.99 metres. The women’s event, saw Emily Dye, take 3rd place in the ‘A’, with her leap of 4.74 metres. In the ‘B’, Eve Anderson, made her debut appearance, in the Northern league. She jumped a new PB of 4.55 metres, 26cm beyond her old best.
Triple Jump
Rosie Shepherd, was the winner of the women’s ‘A’, event, with her jump of 10.23 metres. In the ‘B’, Abbie Haigh, made it a double victory for the club, with her leap of 9.69 metres. The men’s competition, saw Philip May, take 2nd place in the ‘A’, with his jump of 12.35 metres. James Wardle, was the winner of the ‘B’, with a jump of 12.25 metres.
Shot Putt
Shaun Kerry, took 2nd place in the men’s ‘A’, throwing a new PB of 12.37 metres, one cm beyond his old mark. John Twiddle, was the winner of the ‘B’, with his throw of 12.28 metres. In the women’s event, Holly Adams, took a 3rd place finish, throwing a new PB of 10.77 metres, 32 cm beyond her old mark. Sian Kerry, took 4th place, in the ‘B’, where she also threw a new PB, of 7.87 metres, 30 cm past her old best.
Discus Throw
Holly Adams, took 3rd place, in the women’s discus ‘A’, with her throw of 33.03 metres. In the ‘B’, her training partner Jess Townsend, took 2nd place, with her throw of 25.94 metres. The men’s event, saw Shaun Kerry, take 4th place in the ‘A’, throwing a new PB of 35.42 metres, 2.38 metres past his old best. John Twiddle, took 3rd place in the ‘B’, with his throw of 29.11 metres.
Hammer Throw
Shaun Kerry and John Twiddle, were together again, in the men’s hammer. Shaun took 2nd place in the ‘A’, with his throw of 51.74 metres. John, was the winner of the ‘B’, with his throw of 38.03 metres. In the women’s competition, Eden Lockett, made her Northern league debut, in the ‘A’, where she took 3rd place with her throw of 37.22 metres, to establish a PB, with the heavier, 4Kg hammer. In the ‘B’, hammer coach, Diane Smith, stepped out of retirement, once more, to throw a season’s best effort of 19.56 metres.
Javelin Throw
Sian Kerry, took 3rd place, in the women’s ‘A’, with her season’s best throw, of 29.33 metres. In the ‘B’, Megan Hoult, also took a 3rd place finish, throwing a new PB of 21.40 metres, 4 cm beyond her old best. In the men’s event, Simon Downs, took a 2nd place finish in the ‘A’, with his throw of 38.94 metres. Nathan Cuthbert, took 2nd place in the ‘B’, with a throw of 37.26 metres.
Relays
Men’s 4 x 100 metres
Kingston put out a team of under 20 sprinters, Adam Coles, Nathan Cuthbert, Brody Hinson and David Morgan-Harrison. The team produced a fantastic performance, taking a 2nd place finish, they also broke the club’s under 20’s, relay record, establishing a new record of 44.22 sec.
Women’s 4 x 100 metres
The women’s team, were Megan Hoult, Venus Morgan, Amelia Proctor and Daisy Logan, who took a 2nd place finish, running a season’s best time of 49.96 sec.
Men’s 4 x 400 Metres
The men’s team, were, Simon Downs, Oliver Adnitt, Adam Fox and Tom Smales, who took 5th place, running a season’s best time, of 3:47.36 sec.
Women’s 4 x 400 Metres
The Kingston foursome, of Jess Cappleman, Rosie Shepherd, Ella Shaw Hall and Jess Fields, took 3rd place, running a time of, 4:30.59 sec.

Adam Coles, was the winner of the ‘A’ race, clocking a time of 11.56 sec.
Men’s 100 Metres ‘B’ Race
David Morgan-Harrison, was the winner of the ‘B’ race, running a time of 11.38 sec.
Nathan Cuthbert, took 3rd place, in the ‘B’ race, where he ran a time of 11.59 sec.
Women’s 100 Metres Race
Daisy Logan, was the winner, of the women’s race, running a time of 12.98 sec.
Emily Dye, took 2nd place in the race, running a new PB of 13.29 sec. 0.47 off her old mark.
