North of England Track & Field League – Division 2EC
Herringthorpe Stadium, Rotherham – Saturday 10th August 2019
The Kingston senior team’s final fixture, of the 2019 track & field season, was staged at the Herringthorpe Stadium, in Rotherham, on Saturday the 10th of August. Our opposing team’s, were once again, Sheffield & Dearne, Derby, Doncaster, Hallamshire, and Rotherham.
The winners of the match, were Rotherham, who collected 6 league points, and 357 match points. Kingston took 2nd place, with 5 league and 333 match points. 3rd with 4 league and 327 match points, were Derby. Sheffield & Dearne took 4th place, with 3 and 292 points, in 5th were place were Doncaster, with 2 and 266. 6th place went to, Hallamshire, with one league and 246 match points.
The final league table, saw Kingston upon Hull AC, finish in 3rd position, securing their place in Division 2EC, for the 2020 campaign.
As usual, for the final match, all of the teams, were under strength, owing to the summer holiday period. The weather was atrocious, with intermittent rain, and gale force winds. All of the athletes, ran, jumped and threw, into a head wind, all day.
The Kingston squad, was a mix of senior, under20’s under17’s, and Masters athletes.
Performance Details for all of the Kingston Athletes are as follows.
Sprints
In the men’s 100 metre sprint, David Morgan-Harrison, took 2nd place in the ‘A’ race, running a time of 11.5 sec. Adam Coles, took 2nd place in the ‘B’ race, clocking a time of 12.1 sec. The women’s 100 metres, saw Megan Hoult, take 5th place, in the ‘A’, posting a time of 13.3 sec. In the women’s ‘B’, Venus Morgan, took a 3rd place finish, with her run of 12.8 sec. The men’s 200 metres, saw Josh Sampson, take 2nd place in the ‘A’, running a time of 23.7 sec. David Morgan-Harrison, was the winner of the 200 ‘B’, with his run of 23.5 sec. In the women’s 200 metres ‘A’, Megan Hoult, took a 4th place finish, running a time of 27.9 sec. Amelia Proctor, took 5th place in the 200 ‘B’, clocking a time of 27.6 sec. The 400 metres sprints, saw Simon Downs, take 5th place in the ‘A’, running a time of 59.1 sec. in the 400 ‘B’, Oliver Adnitt, took a 3rd place finish, running a new PB of 55.1 sec, his fastest hand timed run. Jess Cappleman, took 4th place, in the women’s 400 ‘A’, where she clocked a time of 65.3 sec. Rosie Shepherd, was the 2nd place finisher, in the 400 ‘B’, running a time of 66.6 sec.
Middle Distance/Distance
In the women’s 800 metres ‘A’, Jess Cappleman, took a 4th place finish, running a time of 2:28.2 sec. The men’s 1500 metres, saw road runner David Rivers, in action in the ‘A’ race, where he took a 5th place finish, running his season’s best time of 6:19.9 sec. A little later on, David returned to the track, to take on the 5000 metres race. He ran the 12.5 lap race, in another season’s best time, of 23:32.0 sec.
Hurdles
In the men’s 400 metres hurdles, Simon Downs, was the winner of the ‘A’ race, clocking a time of 66.1 sec. Philip May, ran the ‘B’ race, taking a 2nd place finish, and posting a time of 75.6 sec. The men’s 110 metre hurdles, saw Tijesu Akarodolu, take 2nd place in the race, running a time of 16.8 sec. Simon Downs, was the winner of the 110 hurdles ‘B’, running a time of 20.5 sec. In the women’s 100 metre hurdles, Venus Morgan, took 2nd place in the ‘A’, running her season’s best time of 15.60 sec.
Long Jump
Adam Coles, took 4th place, in the men’s long jump ‘A’, with his leap of 6.25 metres. The long jump ‘B’, saw Philip May win the event, leaping to a new PB of 6.04 metres, 54cm beyond his old mark. In the women’s competition, Venus Morgan, took 2nd place in the ‘A’, with her leap of 5.36 metres. Megan Hoult, took 6th place, in the long jump ‘B’, with her jump of 4.02 metres.
High Jump
The women’s high jump ‘A’, saw Rosie Shepherd, take 2nd place, clearing her PB height of 1.50 metres. Eve Anderson, took 2nd place in the ‘B’, with her clearance at 1.30 metres. In the men’s event, Oliver Adnitt, took a 3rd place finish, clearing a height of 1.60 metres. In the ‘B’, Simon Downs took 2nd place, with a clearance at 1.55 metres.
Triple Jump
The men’s triple jump, saw Kingston take a double victory. Adam Coles, was the winner of the ‘A’, where he jumped a new PB of 12.78 metres, 24cm beyond his old mark. Philip May, was the winner of the ‘B’, with his jump of 11.75 metres. Eve Anderson was the winner of the women’s ‘A’, with her jump of 10.19 metres, 41cm, beyond her old best, whilst in the ‘B’ Rosie Shepherd was the winner of the event, with her effort of 10.07 metres.
Pole Vault
Clare Blunt, was the winner, of the women’s pole vault ‘A’, going clear, at a height of 3.50 metres. Simon Downs, took 2nd place in the men’s pole vault ‘A’, with his clearance at 2.60 metres.
Shot Putt
Shaun Kerry, took 2nd place in the men’s ‘A’, throwing a new PB of 12.41 metres, 4cm beyond his old best. John Twiddle, took 2nd place in the ‘B’, with his throw of 12.21 metres. In the women’s competition, Holly Adams took 3rd place in the ‘A’, with her throw of 10.38 metres. Sian Kerry, took a 3rd place finish, in the ‘B’, with her throw of 7.78 metres.
Discus
Holly Adams, took 2nd place, in the women’s ‘A’, throwing a new PB of 36.16 metres, 47cm beyond her old mark. Jess Townsend, took 2nd place in the ‘B’, with her throw of 24.71 metres. In the men’s event, John Twiddle, took 3rd place in the ‘A’, with his throw of 33.94 metres, whilst Shaun Kerry, also took a 3rd place finish, in the ‘B’, with a throw of32.44 metres.
Hammer
Alice Barnsdale, was the winner, of the women’s hammer ‘A’, with her throw of 55.84 metres. Sarah Robinson, was the winner of the ‘B’, with her throw of 41.54 metres. In the men’s event, Shaun Kerry was the winner of the ‘A’, with a throw of 54.40 metres, whilst John Twiddle, was the winner of the ‘B’, with his throw of 39.30 metres.
Javelin
Simon Downs, took a 2nd place finish, in the men’s javelin ‘A’, with his throw of 39.66 metres. In the ‘B’, John Twiddle’s season’s best throw, of 24.02 metres gave him a 3rd place finish. Sian Kerry, took 3rd place, in the women’s javelin ‘A’, where she launched a throw of 26.62 metres. In the ‘B’, Megan Hoult also took a 3rd place finish, with a throw of 20.74 metres.
Relays
Women’s 4 x 100 Metres
The Kingston foursome of Megan Hoult, Venus Morgan, Amelia Proctor and Eve Anderson, took 2nd place in the race, running a time of 52.10 sec.
Men’s 4 x 100 Metres
The men were Tijesu Akerodolu, Josh Sampson, Adam Coles and David Morgan-Harrison, who took 2nd place in the race, and clocked a time of 45.0 sec.
