Humber League & Open Series
Quibell Park, Scunthorpe – Saturday 31st August 2019
The fifth and final match, of the 2019 Humber League & Open Series, was staged at the Quibell Park Stadium in Scunthorpe, on Saturday, the 31st of August. There was a good turnout, of athletes, from all of the clubs, based around the Humber estuary.
Performance details for all the Kingston athletes are as follows
Under 11 Boys & Girls
Nicholas Rusling, made his club debut, this May, at the Cleethorpes Open meeting. He has also seen further action, in the Humber League matches. He was in competition, in this final match, in the 80 and 150 metre sprints, and the long jump. In the 80 metres race, he took a 4th place finish, running a time of 13.7 sec. The 150 metres sprint, saw him take 5th place in the race, clocking a time of 26.1 sec. In his first long jump competition, he took a 4th place finish, and established a PB of 3.20 metres.
Amelia Fraser, made her debut appearance, at a Grimsby Harriers open meeting, in May of 2018. She is both a sprinter and a long jumper, and they were her chosen events, at this meeting. She took a 5th place finish, in the 150 metres sprint, recording a time of 28.3 sec. In the long jump, she took 3rd place in the competition, with her season’s best leap of 2.83 metres.
Under 13 Boys & Girls
William Rusling, is in his second year of competition, with the club. 2019 has seen him, competing for the Kingston junior team, in the UK Youth Development league. His three events at Quibell Park, were the sprints, long jump and the sprint hurdles. He took 4th place in the 100 metres race, running a time of 14.9 sec. He made his debut appearance, in the 75 metres hurdles, taking 2nd place in the race, and established a PB of 15.2 sec. The long jump, saw him take a 3rd place finish, with his leap of 4.04 metres.
Nathan Hope, was the bronze medallist, in the long jump, at this year’s County Championship meeting. He then backed it up, with a silver medal, at the County Schools Championships. As well as the long jump, he took on the 200 metres race, and the sprint hurdles, at this meeting. He took 4th place, in the 200 metres race, running a PB of 31.6 sec, His fastest hand timed run. He was the winner, of the 75 metres hurdles race, clocking a time of 14.8 sec. The long jump, saw him take 7th place, with a leap of 3.69 metres.
Josephine Kidger, has only been training at Costello, since early July. She was in action, at this meeting, in three events. She took 5th place, in her first 200 metres sprint race, where she established a PB of 32.6 sec. She also made her bow, in the javelin event, taking 2nd place, with a throw of 17.49 metres, to establish a PB. In the long jump, she took a 5th place finish, jumping a new PB of 3.79 metres, 52cm ahead of her old mark.
Emily Marshall, made her major Championship debut, at this Augusts Northern Championships, in Liverpool, where she competed in the high jump final. She also represented the junior team, in all of the four league matches. She was in action, in two high jump competitions, at this meeting. The under 13’s event, saw her take 4th place, going clear, at a height of 1.30 metres. The second high jump, was a mixed age competition, featuring under 11’s, under 13’s, under 15’s and master’s athletes. Emily was the winner of this event, clearing a height of 1.35 metres.
Beth Moodie, is the reigning, County and County schools javelin champion. She also picked up, the bronze medal, in the County Schools 75 metres hurdles final. She made her major championship debut, at this year’s Northern event, at Liverpool, where she was in action, in the high jump, triple jump, and javelin finals. At Quibell Park, she was the winner of the javelin event, with her throw of 28.36 metres. She secured 2nd place, in the high jump, with a clearance at 1.30 metres, equalling her PB, and a leap of 3.99 metres, gave her4th place, in the long jump.
Ruby Watts, made her club debut, in March of this year, at the Scunthorpe open meeting. She has competed, throughout 2019, in the Humber league matches, as well as open meetings, throughout Yorkshire and Lincolnshire. Such has been her progress, that she competed, for the junior team in three UK YDL matches. At Scunthorpe, she was in action, in the javelin and the shot events. She took 5th place in the javelin, throwing a new PB of 11.11 metres, 22 cm beyond her old mark. In the shot, she took a 4th place finish, with a throw of 4.59 metres.
Freya Everington, made her club debut, in October 2018, at the Northern Counties, cross country relay championships, in Sheffield’s Graves Park. This Humber league match, marked her first competitive outing of 2019, where she ran in on the track, in her first 800 metres race. She took 7th place, in the race, clocking a time of 3:09.6 sec, to establish a PB for the distance.
Under 15 Boys & Girls
Gabriel Li La-Vigars, has had another busy year. He made his major championship debt, at February’s Northern indoor event, in Sheffield, where he competed in the long jump final, and ran in the 60 metres heats. At May’s County championships, he was the hammer gold medallist, and took the silver in the javelin. At last months’ Northern track & field championships, he competed in the finals, of the hammer, javelin, and discus. His chosen events at Scunthorpe, were the javelin and the 200 metres sprints. This was the first time, he had competed in the 200 metres, where he was the race winner, running a time of 27.8 sec, to establish a PB. He also won the javelin event, with his throw of 33.39 metres.
Lydia Moore, is in her fourth competitive year, with Kingston. She was the shot silver medallist, at this years’ County championship meeting, and she took the bronze medal at the County Schools event. She made her major championship bow, at Augusts Northern track & field championships, where she competed, in the finals, of the shot, discus and javelin events. At the Quibell Park meeting, she was in action, in the long jump, shot and discus. The long jump, saw her take a 6th place finish, with a leap of 3.70 metres. She took 3rd place in the shot, with her throw of 8.36 metres, and she was the winner, of the discus event, throwing a new PB of 23.68 metres, 76cm ahead of her old mark.
Izzy Watts, is also in her 4th competitive year, this years’ County championships, saw her take, the gold medal, in the shot. She also medalled, at the County schools event, where she was the bronze medallist, in the javelin. The Northern track & field championships, saw her in competition, in the shot, javelin and hammer finals. At this Humber league meeting, she was the winner of the shot event, with a throw of 9.09 metres, and took 2nd place, in the javelin, with a throw of 21.22 metres. In the long jump event, she took 7th place, with a leap of 3.61 metres.
Beth Moodie, is in her third competitive year. 2019 has seen her, take the javelin gold medal, at the County schools championships, for good measure, she took the 75 metres hurdles bronze, at the same meeting. At the Northern track & field championships, she competed in the javelin, high jump, and triple jump finals. At Scunthorpe, she was the winner of the javelin event, with a throw of 28.36 metres. She took a 2nd place finish in the high jump, going clear at a height of 1.30 metres, which is her PB height. In the long jump, she claimed 4th place, with a leap of 3.99 metres.
Jessica Coates, made her club debut, at the 2018 Kingston Spring open meeting. She spent the rest of the year, learning her trade, in the Humber league matches, and other open meetings. 2019 has seen her, competing with the junior team, in the UK YDL fixtures. She won her first medal, at this year’s County schools championships, taking the silver medal, in the high jump. At Quibell Park, she was in action, in the 100 metres sprint race, taking 4th place, running a time of 15.2 sec.
Bethan Candlin, has only been training with the club, since July. She is a thrower, and has been making good progress, with the throws coaches. This Humber league meeting, was her debut appearance. Her chosen events were the, shot and discus throws. The discus event, saw her take 2nd place in the competition, with a throw of 21.57 metres, establishing a PB. In the shot, she took a 5th place finish, with a throw of 7.61 metres, establishing another PB.
Under 17 Men & Women
Antony Mould, is in his fourth competitive season, with Kingston. This year has seen him, take the hammer gold medal, and discus bronze, at Mays County championship meeting. In July, he made his debut appearance, at the English Schools Championships, where he was a hammer finalist, at the Alexander stadium, in Birmingham. The Northern Championships saw him win the silver medal, in the hammer final, and take a 6th place finish in the discus final. At Quibell Park, he was the winner of the shot event, with his throw of 9.48 metres. He also won the discus competition, with a throw of 34.28 metres.
Marija Miklasevic, has been training with Kingston, since early August. The Lithuanian runner covers, both sprints and middle distance races. She made her UK debut, at this Humber league match, where she competed, in the 800 metres race, taking a 4th place finish, running a time of 2:05.0 sec.
