English Road Running Association – National Young Athletes Relays
Sutton Park, Sutton Coldfield – Sunday 6th October 2019
Three under 15’s, Kingston athletes, Georgina North, Jess Waugh, and Amy Rothery, represented the club, at the ERRA National Young Athletes relay championships, which were staged, in Sutton Park, Sutton Coldfield, on Sunday the 6th of October. The same three girls, had also competed at the Northern Young athletes relay championships, in Manchester, in September. They were supported, by their families, and their coach Laura Egan. A total of 1034 athletes, who compete in the under 13’s, under 15’s and under 17’s age categories, were in action at these championships. This was tough assignment, for the girls, who were competing against, the best relay runners in the country
The under15 girls race, was contested over three legs, and each runner covered a distance, of 3.8 kilometres. The County Schools 1500 metres champion, Georgina North, took out the baton, on the first leg, she covered the course, in a time of 16:55 sec, handing over the baton, to Jess Waugh, who was the quickest of the girls, on the day, navigating the course, in a time of 16:47 sec. The County Schools, steeplechase champion, Amy Rothery ran the final leg, where she covered the course, in a time of 19:37 sec.
The next competition, on the girl’s agenda, is the Northern Athletics Cross Country relay championships. Which will take place, in Graves Park, Sheffield, on Saturday 19th of October.
