2019 World Biathle Championships

St. Petersburg, Florida – Sunday 27th October

Kingston upon Hull AC’s, Gregan Clarkson, competed at the 2019 World Biathle championships, which were held, at St. Petersburg, in Florida, on Sunday the 27th of October. Biathle is a continuous run and swim event. The athletes, run a distance of 1600 metres, followed by a swim of 400 metres, and then a second run of 1600 metres.

He has competed, at eighteen World Championship meetings, since the events inception in 1999. He was the World Champion, in both 2006 and 2008. Prior to this year’s meeting, his last medal had been won at the 2013 event, where he was the silver medallist.

He was in action, in St. Petersburg, in the senior men’s event, which covers the age ranges of 21 to 40 years. Most of his competitor’s, were 15 years younger, than himself. The two 1600 metres runs, took place in Albert Whitted Park, in downtown St Petersburg. After completing the first run, the athletes, took off their running shoes, and completed the 200 metres swim, in the St Petersburg marina. After donning their shoes again, it was back into the park, for the final 1600 metres run.

He was the winner of the bronze medal, which he can add to, the gold medal, he won at this year’s national Championships, in Manchester.
