Northern Counties – Cross Country Championships

The 2020 Northern Counties, cross country championships, were staged at Bedale, in the Yorkshire dales, on Saturday 25th of January. A total of 2053 athletes, representing clubs, from all parts of Northern England, were in competition, at the championship meeting. Five Kingston athletes, were in action at the meeting, their performance details are as follows.
Under 13 Girls
Lydia Greenwood, represented the club, in the under 13 girls, 2.8 kilometres race, which was contested, by a field of 210 runners. Lydia, who was the winner of the recent Barton cross country event, ran the course, in a time of 11:37 sec, which gave her a finish, in the middle third of the race.
Under 15 Girls
Georgina North, the County championships silver medallist, ran in a field of 182 runners, in the under 15 girls, 4.2 kilometres race. She covered the course, in a time of 17:20 sec, taking a place in the middle third, of the race.
Under 17 Men
Kingston athletes, Harry Hudson and Tom Smales, with training partner, Kian Wiles of Barton & District AC, were in competition, in the under 17 men’s 6.2 kilometres race, which had a field of 139 runners. Harry Hudson, was the first of the trio, to cross the finish line, running a time of 20:29 sec, to take an eighth place finish. Tom Smales, took 32nd place, navigating the course, in a time of 21:08 sec. Kian Wiles, crossed the finish line, in 42nd place, with his run of 21:20 sec.
Senior Men
Gregan Clarkson, ran in a field of 583 athletes, in the senior mens 12.3 Kilometres race, where he finished in the middle third of the race. He covered the course, running a time of 54:17 sec.
