South Yorkshire Indoor Series

The third competition of the 2019/2020, South Yorkshire indoor open series, was staged at the English Institute of sports stadium, in Sheffield, on Sunday the 9th of February. This year marks the 12th anniversary of the events existence. It is a competition for boys and girls in the under 11, under 13 and under 15 age categories. There are a total of four fixtures in the series, all of which will be staged at the excellent facilities, which the E.I.S stadium offers. All competitors are allowed to compete in up to three events of their choice, at each meeting. Awards will be based, upon performances and points accrued, in all the fixtures, with awards being presented at the 4th and final match.
Under 11’s
Sebastian McKenzie, made his third appearance, at this year’s indoor series, having represented Kingston, at the first two competitions, in November, and December. His chosen events, at this meeting were the 60 metres, and 150 metres sprints, and the 600 metres race. He was seeded to run in race one of the 60 metres sprints, where he took a 3rd place finish, running a new PB of 9.35 sec, a 0.22 sec improvement. He was also seeded in race one of the 150 metres, taking a 2nd place finish, running his second new PB of the day, chopping 0.46 sec off his old mark, to set a new personal best of 21.93 sec. He made his debut appearance, over the 600 metres distance, once again seeded in race one, he was the 4th place finisher, and established a PB for the distance, of 2:03.86 sec.
Ruby Farr, made her third appearance, at the 2019/2020 South Yorkshire series. Her chosen events this time around were the 150 metres sprints, and the 600 metres race, where she was seeded to run in race one of both the events. She took 2nd place in the 150 metres sprint, running a new PB of 22.88 sec, a 0.15 sec improvement. In the 600 metres race, she was the 3rd place finisher, running a new PB of 2:04.99 sec, chopping 0.94 sec off her old mark.
Under 13’s
Charlotte McKenzie, enjoyed her third appearance at the series where she chose to compete in three events, 60 metres and 200 metres sprints, and the long jump. Seeded in race one, of the 60 metres sprints, she took a 5th place finish, running a new PB of 8.97 sec, taking 0.12 sec off her old time. She was seeded in race two of the 200 metres sprints, in only her second outing over that distance, she took a 2nd place finish, running a new PB of 30.74 sec, slashing 1.48 sec, off her old best. The long jump, saw her competing in a field of 36 athletes, where she took an 11th place finish, leaping to a new PB of 3.76 metres, one centimetre, beyond her old best.
The fourth and final match of the series, will take place on Sunday the 29th of March, at the English Institute of Sports Stadium, in Sheffield.
