UK Youth Development League
The first league meeting of the season took place at the King George V Stadium in Grimsby on Sunday 27th April 2014. This league is for both male and female athletes, in the under 17 and under 20 age categories.
Each team may enter up to two athletes in each event. They compete as ‘A’ and ‘B’ runners or throwers.
Teams representing: – Kingston upon Hull Athletic Club, Grimsby Harriers, Hallamshire Harriers Spenborough Athletic Club and Bingley Harriers, took part in the competition.
We were a little short on numbers but most of our young athletes competed in several events and the whole team put in a magnificent performance, many of them achieving personal bests in their events . They did the club proud and it was both a privilege and an honour to watch them competing.
Our team finished in 2nd place in the competition and picked up four league points.
The results on the day were as follows:-
100 metres – U 17 Men
Dominic Singh was the winner of the ’A’ race in a time of 11.5s.
Matthew Backhouse won the ‘B’ race in a time of 11.6s.Which is a new personal best time.
Eliot Gay was second in the ‘B’ race. Recording a time of 11.7s
200 metres- U 17 Men
Dominic Singh won the ‘A’ race (doing the sprint double) His time of 22.9s.was a new personal best.
Eliot Gay won the ‘B’ race in a new personal best time 0f 23.4s.
400 metres – U 17 Men
Jonathon Beharrell won the ‘A’ race in a new personal best time of 51.9s.
400 metre hurdles – U 17 Men
Nathan Hood took second place in the ‘A’ race in a personal best time of 71.1s.
1500 metres – U 17 Men
Shaun Smith won the ‘A’ race in a new personal best time of 4:24.4
Jack Brothwell won the ‘B’ race in a time of 4:41.9
3000 metres – U 17 Men
Tom Whitley was the winner of the ‘A’ race in a time of 11:29.8s. This was the first time Tom had run this distance.
Pole Vault – U 17 Men
Macalley Morgan was the winner of the pole vault, with a height of 2.15m.
Nathan Hood was in second place, with a personal best vault of 2.0m.
Long Jump – U 17 men
Macalley Morgan was in 3rd place, with his best jump measuring 4.98m.
Javelin – U 17 Men
Shaun Smith finished in 3rd place, with a personal best throw of 21.30m.
100 metres – U 17 Women
Charlotte Paterson was the winner of the ‘A’ race in a time of 12.6s.
Luci Preston was in 2nd place in the ‘A’ race in a time of 13.1s.
Megan Grant was the winner of the ‘B’ race, in 13.4s.
200 metres – U 17 Women
Charlotte Paterson won the ‘A’ race (another sprint double) setting a new PB of 25.4s
Luci Preston came 2nd in the ‘A’ race with a new PB of 26.4s.
Megan Holt was the winner of the ‘B’ race with a new PB of 26.8s.
300 metres -U 17 Women
Emma Jo Huckstep finished in 2nd place in a time of 48.4s.
80 metre hurdles – U 17 Women
Chloe Sole won the event, in a time of 12.8s
800 metres – U 17 Women
Amelia Robinson finished in 1st place, with a time of 2:27.5s.
Hammer – U 17 Women
Jamila Hurley won the competition with a throw of 32.25m. a new PB.
Jamila also finished in 2nd place in the high jump, with a height of 1.35m.
Discus – U 17 Women
Laura Copley won the competition. Her best throw being 32.69m.
Long Jump – U 17 Women
Luci Preston finished 2nd in the ‘A’ competition, with a jump of 4.35m.
Megan Grant was the winner of the ‘B’ competition, with a jump of 4.14m.
Triple Jump – U 17 Women
Charlotte Paterson won the competition with a jump of 10.37m. Which is a new PB.
Maggie Okul was in 3rd position with a distance of 8.56m.
Javelin – U 17 Women
Chloe Sole was in 2nd place with a new personal best of 24.29m.
Shot Putt – U 17 Women
Emily Lyons was in 4th position with a putt of 5.55m. A personal best.
100 Metres – U 20 Men
Joseph Cooper finished in 2nd position in a new personal best time of 11.6s.
200 Metres – U 20 Men
Daniel Gray was the winner of the ‘A’ race. He set a new PB of 22.2s.
Adam Preston finished 2nd in the ‘B’ race, recording a time of 23.5s.
400 Metres – U 20 Men
Adam Preston was the winner of the ‘A’ race. His time was 52.3s.
Matthew Elvidge was the winner of the ‘B’ race. He set a new PB of 54.6s.
1500 Metres – U 20 Men
Adam Oxley finished in 2nd place in the ‘A’ race. He recorded a new PB of 4:11.5s
Oliver Newton finished in 2nd place in the ‘B’ race. His time was 4:38.8s
2000 Metres Steeplechase – U 20 Men
Oliver Newton was the winner of the steeplechase. His time was 7:58.2s
Long Jump – U 20 Men
Matthew Elvidge was the winner of the long jump competition with a jump of 6.43m.
High Jump – U 20 Men
Matthew Elvidge finished in 3rd position. His jump of 1.70m being a new PB.
Shot Putt – U 20 Men
Joseph Cooper finished 3rd in the ‘A’ competition. His putt of 8.07m was a new PB.
Adam Preston finished 2nd in the ‘B’ competition with 7.29m.
800 Metres – U 20 Women
Jessica Cappleman finished in 2nd in a time of 2:43.8s
1500 Metres – U 20 Women
Jessica Cappleman finished in 2nd in a time of 5:45.0s
Hammer – U 20 Women
Maggie Okul won the hammer competition. Her best throw being one of 42.15m.
Javelin – U 20 Women
Maggie Okul finished in 2nd place. Her best throw being one of 25.39m.
Discus – U 20 Women
Kate Pattison won the competition with a best throw of 41.62m.
4 x 100 metre relay – U 17 Men
The KuHac team finished in 2nd place. Registering a time of 4:01.6s.
The runners were – Nathan Hood – Macalley Morgan – Matthew Backhouse and Dominic Singh.
4 x 100 metre relay – U 20 Men
The KuHac team won the event, in a time of 3:40.0s.
The runners were – Joseph Cooper – Eliot Gay – Matthew Elvidge and James Wardle.
4 x 400 metre relay – U 17 Men
The KuHac team finished in 2nd place in this event, in a time of 4:01.6s.
