Gregan Clarkson and Joanne Maddick, two of our clubs senior athletes travelled across to Leeds on Sunday 17th November, which was a wet and miserable day in the West Riding of Yorkshire, to take part in the 29th annual running of the ‘Abbey Dash’ which is a 10000 metres race which started at Leeds Town Hall and was run through the city centre streets.
9562 entrants started the race and they had travelled from all parts of the United Kingdom in order to participate. 9524 of them completed the course and crossed the finishing line.
Gregan Clarkson is one of the clubs busiest athletes, whether that be on the track, on the road, or cross country. He is competing somewhere on just about every weekend of the year. He has represented Great Britain in the Biathle which is a continuous run, swim, run event and was indeed World Biathle Champion in both 2006 and 2008.
Gregan finished in 137th place and he set a new PB of 32:38s for the 10000 metres.
Joanne Maddick also represents the club on the track, road and cross country and has done since she was a junior athlete. She gives her utmost efforts in every competition and is a valued member of our club and our teams.
