40th Humberside Cross Country Championships
Weelsby Woods, Grimsby – Sunday 4th January 2015
Twenty one of our Junior and Youth team’s athletes competed in the 40th Humberside cross country championships, which were held this year in Weelsby Woods in Grimsby.
Kingston were the team winners at under 20 men, under 17 men and under 13 boys.
At under 20’s three of our athletes finished in the first five and included the race winner Harry Powell.
The under 17’s was won by Shaun Smith, who has been in superb form in the last few weeks.
The under 13’s saw four of our athletes in the first nine home. Finlay Pickering, the winner of the race was running in his first event for the club.
Not to be outdone by the boys Abbie Haigh became the new under13 girl’s champion.
Full details of the performances of all our Junior and Youth team’s athletes are as follows.
Under 20 Men – 7200 metres race
Harry Powell was the winner of the race and he ran a good time of 23.39s, despite him suffering recent injury problems.
Oliver Newton took 4th place and he recorded a time of 25.07s.
Joshua Taylor-Brown finished in 5th position and his time was 26.25s.
Under 17 Men – 6200 metres race
Shaun Smith continued his recent good form and was the winner of the race where he recorded a time of 23.47s.
Jack Brothwell, another of our form runners, took 2nd place with a time of 24.13s
Connor Bingham put in another good performance and he took 4th place in 24.31s.
Under 15 Boys – 4900 metres race
Adam Egan also put in a great effort and took 3rd place in his race, where he ran a time of 20.03s.
Under 13 Boys – 3300 metres race
Finlay Pickering, who was running in his first race for the club was the winner of the 3300 metres and he recorded a time of 11.45s.
Matthew Lyons took 5th place in the race and he ran a time of 13.51s.
Joe Seed finished in 7th place and his time was one of 14.44s.
Robert Smith took 9th place and his recorded time was 15.07s.
Under 11 Boys – 2000 metres race
Daniel Chadwick was running in what was only his second race for the club and he took 4th place and set a time of 8.40s.
Thomas Iverson took 5th place and his recorded time was 8.44s.
Alexander Chivers finished in 8th place and his time was 9.37s.
Under 15 Girls – 4100 metres race
Natalie Bell took 2nd place in the race and she recorded a time of 17.46s.
Sophie Sweeting finished in 6th place and she ran a time of 18.43s.
Martha Savage finished in 7th place and her time was one of 18.48s.
Under 13 Girls – 3300 metres race
Abbie Haigh was the winner of the race and she recorded a time of 14.58s.
Evie Watson took 7th place in a time of 15.57s.
Emma Sweeting finished in 9th place and her time was 17.02s.
Under 11 Girls – 2000 metres
Lauren McClean took 5th place in the race and she recorded a time of 10.10s.
