Leeds AC Young Athletes Open Meeting
Sunday 11th January 2015
Eleven athletes from our younger training groups travelled across to Leeds on Sunday 11th January to compete at the indoor open meeting which was hosted by Leeds Athletic Club.
The athletes in the under13 and under 15 age categories are building up to the Northern Indoor Championships which will be taking place at the EIS Stadium in Sheffield on Sunday 1st of February.
Details of all our athletes performances at Leeds are as follows:-
Maddie Storr – Under 17 Women
Maddie competed in the long jump competition where she finished in 9th place with a jump of 4.38m which is a new PB
Bryony Underwood – Under 17 Women
Bryony entered the high jump competition where she finished in 4th place with a clearance of 1.45m a season’s best
Venus Morgan – Under 15 Girls
Venus was the winner of the shot putt with a huge effort of 8.58m a new PB and an increase of 70cm on her previous best.
She also contested the long jump where was placed 7th with a season’s best effort of 4.73m
Libby Wheeler – Under 15 Girls
Libby took 3rd place in the long jump competition with a jump of 4.80m which was a season’s best effort
She also ran in the 60 metres race where another season’s best saw her take 5th place in a time of 8.6s
Becky Chivers – Under 15 Girls
Becky took part in her first competition as an under 15 athlete, she performed very well on the day and can be proud of her achievements.
She ran the 60 metres hurdles race finishing in 6th place and set a new PB of 11.1s.
In the 60 metres flat race she finished 16th and she set another new PB of 9.7s.
She also competed in the shot putt where a new PB of 5.75m gave her 12th place.
Paige Mathers – Under 15 Girls
Paige competed in two events, the 60 metres race and the high jump.
In the 60 metres a new PB of 9.3s gave her a 12th place finish.
In the high jump she cleared a season’s best height of 1.35m which gained her 6th place.
Ciara Andrews – Under 13 Girls
Ciara competed in 3 events, 60 metres hurdles, long jump and shot putt.
In the hurdles she took 2nd place and in doing so set a new PB of 10.3s
The long jump gave her another 2nd place finish and another new PB of 4.05m
The shot putt saw Ciara take 3rd place and set another new PB of 6.71m
Alanah Thoresby
Alanah competed in 3 events, 60 metres race, long jump and shot putt.
The long jump saw her finish in 7th place with a season’s best effort of 3.74m
The shot putt saw another season’s best of 5.17m and an 8th place finish.
The 60 metres race saw Alanah finish 8th and set a new PB of 9.5s
Jack Perry – Under 15 Boys
It was a very successful day for Jack, who won all of his three events and set new PB’s as well.
The 60 metres race saw Jack set a new PB of 8.0s in winning the race.
A new PB of 5.19m in the long jump gave him another victory.
The shot putt was Jack’s 3rd win of the day with another new PB of 8.86m
Adam Coles – Under 15 Boys
Adam took on two events, the 60 metres and the 60 metres hurdles.
The hurdles gave him a 1st place finish and a new PB of 9.4s
In the 60 metres race he took 2nd place and set another new PB of 8.3s
Alex Chivers – Under 13 Boys
Alex took on two events, the shot putt and the long jump.
In the shot he took 4th place with his best effort being one of 4.31m
The long jump saw him claim 6th place with a new PB of 2.98m
