Humberside Track & Field League – Meeting 2

The second Humberside Track & Field Meeting of 2015 was a quadrathlon event for younger competitor’s and a Pentathlon for older ones it saw athletes of all ages, from under 9 year olds to seniors competing in the event. The Quadrathlon is a competition for multi eventer’s, although it is open to everyone
Athletes from all the clubs around the Humber estuary attended and they were joined by competitors from athletic clubs at Scarborough, York, Rotherham, Worksop, Louth and Boston.
Results – Under 9’s
The disciplines for the boys and girls in the youngest group were 75metres sprint, standing long jump, vortex (a device used by youngsters learning to throw the javelin), 150 metres sprint and 600 metres race. They had to choose four of the five events and they were awarded points in accordance with times on the track and distances in the field.
Alfie Burrell of Grimsby Harriers was the winner of the boy’s event with a point’s total of 132. Ben Russell who is the younger brother of Kingston’s Emilia and is presently unattached to a club took the bronze medal with 97 points.
The girl’s event was won by Libby Killick of Barton & District AC who amassed a score of 200 points. Kingston’s Freya Vidal was in 4th place with 158 points.
Results – Under 11’s
The four events contested by the under 11’s were 80 metres sprint, long jump, vortex and 600 metres. The boy’s event saw a remarkable one, two, three finish by Kingston’s Iverson triplets Tom, Harry and James with their team mates Joshua Bell in 5th and Alex Chivers 7th.
Tom finished on 197 points, Harry 196, James 193, Josh 182 and Alex 164.
The girl’s competition was won by Sophia Wright another unattached athlete who had a great day at Costello. Her points total was 190, 8 points clear of the silver medallist Ella Greenway of Cleethorpes.
Results – Under 13’s
The relevant disciplines for the under 13’s were 100 metres sprint, 800 metres race, long jump and javelin throw.
The winner of the boy’s competition with an impressive point’s total of 262 was Archie Yeo of Scunthorpe & District AC.
Finlay Parker who joined our junior section at the end of February this year took 4th place with 181 points, Ramon Arroyo 6th with 150 and Sam Frankish 8th with 133 points.
The gold medallist in the girl’s competition was Kingston’s Gina De Lancey with a point’s total of 199 and team mate Emilia Russell was in 6th place with 155 points.
Results – Under 15’s
The boy’s chose five out of six eligible events. The events were 80 metres sprint, 200 metres sprint, 800 metres race, high jump, long jump and shot putt.
The gold medallist was one of Kingston’s promising young juniors Shaun Kerry who dominated the event, amassing a total of 1554 points.
Hull Achilles’ young prospect Callum Wilkinson took 5th place.
The girl’s competition saw yet another outstanding performance by Kingston’s Venus Morgan. She racked up a massive points total of 2642 which put her just short of 800 points ahead of the second placed athlete. Venus is in fantastic shape and looks set for a great season.
Club mate Abbie Haigh was in 6th place with 1641 points with Adriana Arroyo and Imogen Hayhurst also in action in the competition.
Results – Under 17’s
Another pentathlon with the eligible events being 200 metres sprint, 1500 metres race, high jump, long jump, discus throw and javelin throw.
The winner of the men’s competition was William Seed of Cleethorpes AC with a point’s total of 2370.
Kingston’s Nathan Hood was the bronze medallist with 1573 points.
The women’s competition was won by Emma Dakin of Rotherham Harrier’s with 2316 points.
