UK Youth Development League – North East 2 – Match 3
Herringthorpe Stadium, Rotherham
Sunday 28th June 2015
The Youth team’s third league match of the season took us to the Herringthorpe Stadium in Rotherham where we renewed our rivalry with the teams representing Rotherham Harriers & AC, Bingley Harriers & AC, Spenborough & District AC and Grimsby Harriers AC.
For the majority of the day we had to contend with overcast and windy conditions, and periods of rain. As we were packing our equipment up at the end of the competition, the sun made an appearance to bid us goodbye.
Our athletes produced an outstanding team performance, many of them going well outside their comfort zones but still giving 100% effort and commitment to the cause. Middle distance runner Harry Powell’s efforts in the long jump will be long remembered by everyone who watched him competing. We had sprinters helping out in the throwing events and throwers running in the relay teams.
Kingston won the match and collected the maximum 5 league points, to put us 4 points clear at the top of the table.
The team will travel to the Princess Mary Stadium in Cleckheaton, on Sunday 26th of July, for the final league meeting of 2015, full of confidence and hoping to clinch what would be a much desired and well deserved promotion.
