UK Youth Development League – North East 2 – Match 4
Princess Mary Stadium, Cleckheaton
Sunday 26th July 2015
Kingston’s youth team travelled over to the West Riding of Yorkshire, for their final league match of the 2015 season, at the Princess Mary Stadium in Cleckheaton.
We had won all the previous matches and arrived at the stadium as league leaders, and four points clear of our closest challengers.
Our opposition, once again came from the teams representing Bingley Harriers, Spenborough and District AC, Rotherham Harriers and Grimsby Harriers.
This match coincided with the start of the school summer holiday period and consequently all the teams were missing a number of their athletes.
The competition began at mid-day in truly awful weather conditions. Heavy rain arrived in the Pennines, and it poured relentlessly from the sky for the entirety of the match.
The athletes, as always, took it all in their stride and they produced some exceptional performances in the conditions, including several personal best performances.
Kingston won the match by 19 event points and ended the 2015 season as the undefeated league winners, and also gained promotion to North East Division One for the 2016 campaign.
Details of all of the day’s events and the athletes who contested them are as follows.
