Yorkshire Coast 10 Kilometre Race

Sunday 11th October 2015

Two of Kingston’s senior athletes enjoyed a successful day out to Scarborough on the 11th of October. They were two of the 1561 runners who travelled to the seaside resort to compete in the ‘McCain’ Yorkshire Coast 10,000 metres race.

The race took place on the town’s roads and part of the course took in the picturesque Marine Drive area, which is the road link between Scarborough’s north and south bays. It took place in great conditions for this time of the year, with the runners enjoying dry and mild conditions with the added bonus of some sunshine.

Joanne Maddick who was the women’s winner of the Hull 10K race, on the 14th of June, backed up that performance with another excellent display on the Yorkshire coast, winning the women’s race and recording a time of 37.22s, for another well deserved victory.

A man who is Probably Kingston’s busiest athlete, Gregan Clarkson, was our representative in the men’s race. He covered the course in a time of  33.43s, to take 3rd place.

On the 27th of September Gregan had won the Filey 10K Beach race, where he clocked a time of 35.53s. The day before that on the 26th he had won a 3K race at the Grimsby Open meeting, recording a time of 9:32.3s, and just for good measure he won the 800 metres race at the Grimsby meeting, running 2:10.6s.
