Kate Huntington
14 year old Kingston athlete Kate Huntington was in action in Sheffield on Sunday the 24th of January at the South Yorkshire Indoor Series meeting. She has been with the club since 2014 and she was the winner of the 100 metre silver and 200 metre bronze medals at the 2015 Humberside track and field championships.
Competitors were restricted to three events at the Sheffield meeting, and she opted to take part in the 60 metres and the 200 metres sprint races and the shot putt.
The 60 metre sprint saw Kate run a new personal best time of 8.61s, to give her the 11th fastest time of the day, out of a field of 45 athletes.
In the 200 metres race she set another new PB of 28.59s, to place her 10th out of the 31 competitors in the event.
She entered for her first ever shot competition, and she put in a throw of 6.21m, which placed her 24th out of the 35 girls in the event, and gives her a personal best distance to try to beat during the 2016 track & field season.
