UK Youth Development League – Division North Premier 2
Darlington – Sunday 19th June 2016
For their third league match of the 2016 track & field season, the Kingston junior team travelled up to the Eastbourne complex in Darlington. When they departed from the Costello Stadium, the team was holding 4th position in the league table and we hoped to hang on to that spot, and to stay out of the relegation places.
The opposition came from athletes representing Leeds City AC, Wirral AC, West Cheshire AC, Harrogate Harriers & AC and Rotherham Harriers & AC.
Despite a great effort from our youngsters, the team finished in 5th place on the day and collected 2 league points. The Harrogate team moved one point above us on the league ladder, leaving us in 5th place and a relegation spot.
The outstanding achievements of the day came from Shaun Kerry, who launched a massive new PB of 58.51metres in the hammer throw, which took him to the No. 1 ranking in the UK.
The under 15 boys 4 x 100 metres relay team, who set a new club record of 49.2s.
The final match will take the junior team on a long journey west, on Saturday the 16th of July. To Bebbington, the home track of Wirral Athletic Club. Our objective is a simple one, to avoid relegation. To achieve this we must finish above Harrogate Harriers at the final meeting.
