‘Finish Line Open Meeting’ – EIS Stadium, Sheffield

Saturday 21st January 2017

Andy Morgan-Harrison fresh from his double medal success at the previous weekends Northern indoor Championships returned to the English Institute of Sports stadium to compete at the ‘Finish Line’ open meeting. The Kingston athlete recently received another big boost to his confidence when the invitation came for him to compete at the British indoor championships which are coming up in a few weeks time. Places at the British event are much coveted and are awarded to the top performing athletes from the four home nations.

His focus at the Finish Line meeting was on the 60 metres sprint where the England international was in action in the 4th of the 60 metre races. He powered to another victory crossing the line in a time of 7.06s just 3 hundredths of a second outside of his personal best time and 1.7 seconds in front of the 2nd placed runner.

David Morgan-Harrison was also in action continuing his build up to the forthcoming indoor meetings he is a good sprinter who is improving all the time and a great team member who we hope will have a big track & field season this year.

David took on both the 60 metre and 200 metre sprint races at this meeting and he was drawn in race 1 of the under 17 men’s 60 metres where his run of 7.76s saw him take a 4th place finish. In the 200 metres he went in the second race where he claimed a 2nd place finish with an excellent run of 25.07s just 6 hundredths of a second outside his personal best performance.

Kate Huntington had her first run-out of this year at this open meeting, she has moved up an age category to the under 17’s for the 2017 indoor and track & field seasons. In 2016 she gained County honours at the Inter Counties meeting in Nuneaton where she ran in the 100 and 200 metres races and was a member of the Kingston Junior team running in the sprints and relays in the UK Youth Development League matches.

Kate was seeded in race1 of the 60 metre sprints where she ran a season’s best time of 8.63s to take 5th place in the race. She also went in race 1 of the 200 metres where another season’s best effort of 28.64s saw her claim 4th place.
