The Kingston Junior team’s final league match of the 2017 track & field season was staged at the Herringthorpe Stadium in Rotherham the young athletes involved in the match compete in the under 13 and under 15 age groups. The opposition was provided by junior teams representing City of York AC, Doncaster AC, Hallamshire Harriers, Rotherham Harriers and Scarborough AC. The Kingston juniors have enjoyed a good season they have competed well in all of the matches and have put together some excellent displays both on an individual basis and in strong team performances.
Going into the final match Hallamshire sat at the top of the table on 18 points with Kingston 2nd on 15 with a 5 point gap over 3rd placed Doncaster on 10. The home team Rotherham put on a big performance on the day to emerge as the match winners with Hallamshire in 2nd and Kingston 3rd.
The final league positions saw Hallamshire take the title with a total of 23 points, Kingston were the runners up with 19 and Rotherham’s victory moved them up two places into 3rd with Doncaster 4th York 5th and Scarborough in 6th place.

Under 15 Boy’s & Girls
The 100 sprint race saw the County and County Schools 100 and 200 metres champion Brody Hinson in the ‘A’ where his run of 11.8 sec saw him claim another victory finishing 4 tenths of a second ahead of the 2nd place finisher. In the ‘B’ race the County 300 metres champion Adam Fox took 4th place and ran a time of 13.1 sec. The 200 metres sprints saw ‘English Schools’ finalist and UK ranked No.8 Brody Hinson take his second victory of the day and his run of 23.7 sec saw him cross the line 1.3 seconds in front of the 2nd place finisher, whilst in the ‘B’ Adam Fox ran a new PB of 26.7 sec taking a tenth of a second off his old mark for 4th place.
In the girls 100 metres Daisy Logan equalled her PB of 13.4 sec to take 2nd place in the ‘A’ and Leah Wall’s run of 13.7 sec in the ‘B’ saw her also take a 2nd place finish. The 200 metres sprints saw Leah Wall winning the ‘A’ race running a time of 27.8 sec and Rowan Swinburn was placed 2nd in the ‘B’ with her run of 29.3 sec.
In the 300 metres Harry Hudson’s run of 40.9 sec saw him take 3rd place in the ‘A’ race and in the ‘B’ Callum Featherstone took a 2nd place finish running a new PB of 42.0 sec.
In the girl’s 300 metres Jodie Martin was the ‘A’ runner where she was a 3rd place finisher and ran a time of 45.7 sec and Evie Watson’s run of 46.1 sec in the ‘B’ saw her too take 3rd place in her race.
Harry and Callum were back together in the 800 metres where they pulled off a double victory with Harry Hudson winning the ‘A’ and clipping 4 tenths of a second off his best time to set a new PB of 2:06.2 sec. In the ‘B’ Callum Featherstone took 3.2 seconds off his old best winning the race and running a new PB of 2:09.8 sec.
The girl’s 800 metres saw the 2016 Northern silver medallist Jodie Martin running in the ‘A’ race where she took 4th place and ran a time of 2:30.0 sec with Ella Shaw-Hall taking 3rd place in the ‘B’ with her run of 2:45.5 sec.
The 1500 metres saw Harvey Roberts running the ‘A’ race where he took 4th place and posted a time of 4:43.8 sec whilst in the ‘B’ Thomas Smales ran a new PB of 4:46.1 sec for 2nd place taking 4.1 seconds off his old best time.
Hermione Pickering made her club and league debut at Rotherham in the girl’s 1500 metres ‘A’ race where she was a 4th place Finisher and ran a time of 5:36.7 sec
The girl’s 75 metres hurdles race saw the County Schools bronze medallist Lauren McClean taking 3rd place in the ‘A’ where she ran a time of 13.3 sec and in the ‘B’ Rowan Swinburn’s run of 13.4 sec saw her take a 2nd place finish.
In the long jump competition Connor Pickering took 5th place in the ‘A’ with his leap of 4.86 metres and Adam Fox took 4th place in the ‘B’ where he jumped a new PB of 4.37 metres adding 15 centimetres to his old mark.
In the girl’s long jump Emily Dye jumped a new PB of 4.81 metres in the ‘A’ adding 2 centimetres to her previous best to take 3rd place and Alanah Thoresby was the winner of the ‘B’ where she added 6 centimetres to her previous best and posted a new PB of 4.72 metres.
Harvey Roberts competed in his first ever high jump competition, jumping in the ‘A’ event he set himself a PB of 1.05 metres for 4th place. The javelin event saw Harvey Roberts and Harvey Southcoat taking their first throws in a new discipline with Harvey Roberts taking 4th place in the ‘A’ with 15.27 metres and Harvey Southcoat 5th place in the ‘B’ with 6.06 metres. In the girl’s javelin event County champion Holly Adams took 3rd place in the ‘A’ where she threw 21.31 metres and Esther Savage was the winner of the ‘B’ with 19.54 metres.
The girl’s high jump saw Kingston’s top two under 15 girls in action both of whom have made good progress in the event this year. Ellie Townsend jumped in the ‘A’ where she took 2nd place with a clearance at 1.50 metres and Alanah Thoresby was the winner of the ‘B’ also going clear at a height of 1.50 metres.
Connor Pickering and Antony Mould represented the team in the shot event where Connor took 4th place in the ‘A’ throwing a distance of 8.34 metres and in the ‘B’ Antony’s throw of 7.59 metres saw him finish in 3rd place. The girl’s shot featured Northern indoor silver medallist Holly Adams in the ‘A’ and the bronze medallist Indigo Atkin in the ‘B’. Both girls dominated the two events where Holly won the ‘A’ with 10.11 metres and Indigo won the ‘B’ with her throw of 9.96 metres.
The two boys were in further action together in the hammer throw where Antony Mould was the winner of the ‘A’ with his throw of 26.53 metres and Connor Pickering’s throw of 14.18 metres gave him 2nd place in the ‘B’. Further competition beckoned for Antony out in the discus circle where he was a 2nd place finisher in the ‘A’ throwing a distance of 24.35 metres. The girl’s discus brought together the County Schools champion Holly Adams in the ‘A’ and the silver medallist Jess Townsend in the ‘B’ the two girls both won their events with Holly throwing 25.04 metres and Jess 21.42 metres. County hammer champion Indigo Atkin took 2nd place in the girl’s hammer with her throw of 32.96 metres.
Under 13 Boys & Girls
The 100 metre sprints saw County silver medallist Samuel Marsh clip a tenth of a second off his PB in the ‘A’ race to take 4th place and set a new PB of 15.1 sec and County bronze medallist Finlay Southcoat took 4th place in the ‘B’ with his run of 16.0 sec. In the 200 metres Samuel took a 4th place finish and he ran a new PB of 30.7 sec taking half a second off his old mark. Thomas Iversen ran his debut 200 metres race in the ‘B’ taking 3rd place and setting a PB of 30.6 sec.
The girls 75 metre sprints saw County silver medallist Tilly Cairns take 2nd place in the ‘A’ where she ran a new PB of 11.2 sec taking 4 tenths of a second off her old mark and in the ‘B’ Libby Hackney also took 2nd place and established a PB of 11.1 sec. The 150 metres sprints featured the same girls with Tilly taking 4th place in the ‘A’ clipping 2 tenths of a second of her best mark to set a new PB of 22.8 sec and Libby was a 2nd place finisher in the ‘B’ and established a PB of 22.3 sec.
The boys 800 metres saw Morgan Cuthbert making his club and league debut his run of 3:05.2 sec in the ‘A’ secured 5th place in the race and saw him establish a PB and in the ‘B’ Finlay Southcoat took 3rd place and ran a time of 2:47.5 sec. The girls race featured Meabh Brannigan in the ‘A’ who’s run of 2:48.3 sec saw her finish in 5th and in the ‘B’ Jessica Waugh took 4th place running a new PB of 2:49.8 sec taking 1.7 seconds off her old time.
Evie-Leigh Williams made both her club and league debut in the girls 1200 metres ‘A’ race where she finished in 5th place and established a personal best performance 4:48.4 sec.
The boys 75 metres hurdles saw Thomas Iversen take 2nd place in the ‘A’ race where he ran a new PB of 15.0 sec clipping 4 tenths of a second off his previous best and in the ‘B’ brother James Iversen was the race winner and he too ran a new PB of 15.7 sec and clipped half a second off his old mark. Jessica Waugh was the ‘A’ runner in the girls 70 metres hurdles where she took 3rd place and ran a time of 14.6 sec whilst Frances Farnill who had her first competitive run of 2017 in the ‘B’ race also took a 3rd place finish and ran a new PB of 14.5 sec clipping seven tenths of a second off her old best.
The boys long jump saw Harry and James Iversen competing together on the field, Harry jumped a new PB of 3.92 metres in the ‘A’ an improvement of seven centimetres to take 4th place and James was the winner of the ‘B’ where he equalled his PB of 3.86 metres.The girls competition saw Charlotte Lawson take 6th place in the ‘A’ with her jump of 3.40 metres and Lydia Moore put in a leap of 3.18 metres in the ‘B’ for a 4th place finish.
Harry Iversen was the winner of the high jump ‘A’ competition where he went clear at a new personal best height of 1.33 metres 8 centimetres higher than his previous best and his brother Thomas Iversen took 2nd place in the ‘B’ where he cleared a height of 1.20 metres. In the girls high jump ‘A’ Jessica Waugh cleared her personal best height of 1.25 metres for a 3rd place finish and Tonisha Pickering took 4th place in the ‘B’ with her clearance of 1.10 metres.
Alex Chivers took 2nd place in the boys shot ‘A’ event where he threw a distance of 5.88 metres and Finlay Southcoat was the winner of the ‘B’ with his throw of 5.75 metres. In the girls event Izzy Watts was a 6th place finisher in the ‘A’ where she threw 5.35 metres and Tonisha Pickering’s throw of 5.01 metres saw her take 4th place in the ‘B’.
The boys javelin saw Alex Chivers winning the ‘A’ and increasing his PB by 1.61 metres to set a new PB of 24.83 metres and Morgan Cuthbert who was making both his club and league debut was the winner of the ‘B’ where he established a PB of 18.38 metres and Izzy Watts added 2.78 metres to her PB in the girls javelin ‘A’ to take 5th place and set a new PB of 12.98 metres.
Under 15 Boys – 4 x 100 metres
The Kingston team of Harry Hudson, Brody Hinson, Harvey Southcoat and Adam Fox finished in 4th place and they ran a time of 49.8 sec.
Under 15 Boys – 4 x 300 metres
Callum Featherstone, Thomas Smales, Harvey Roberts and Harry Hudson finished in 3rd place and they ran the race in a recorded a time of 2:56.8 sec.
Under 15 Girls – 4 x 100 metres
The foursome of Daisy Logan, Jodie Martin, Emily Dye and Alanah Thoresby finished in 2nd place and the team ran a time of 52.7 sec.
Under 15 Girls – 4 x 300 metres
Emily Dye, Ella Shaw-Hall, Emilia Russell and Evie Watson finished in 4th place and they recorded a time of 3:12.1 sec.
Under 13 Boys – 4 x 100 metres
The boys team was Morgan Cuthbert, Finlay Southcoat, James Iversen and Samuel Marsh and they finished in 4th place with a team time of 60.2 sec.
Under 13 Girls – 4 x 100 metres
The girls team of Libby Hackney, Charlotte Lawson, Meabh Brannigan and Tilly Cairns took 4th place and they ran a time of 59.9 sec.
Non Scoring Races
Under 13 Girls – 75 metres
This was the first 75 metres race that Charlotte Lawson had undertaken and she took 2nd place and established a PB of 11.5 sec, Tonisha Pickering also contested the race and she took 6th place and ran a season’s best time 13.0 sec.
Under 15 Girls – 100 metres
Emily Dye ran a new PB of 13.8 sec to take 2nd place in the race clipping three tenths of a second off her previous best and Ellie Townsend took 6th place running her fastest time under hand timing to establish a PB of 14.2 sec.
Under 15 Girls – 800 metres
Emilia Russell was a 3rd place finisher in the 800 metres where she ran a time of 2:42.0 sec.
