Kingston Upon Hull AC high jumpers Alanah Thoresby & Ellie Townsend continued their successful indoor season by finishing 1st & 2nd in the under 17 age group at the 3rd & final Sheffield evening open event at the English Institute of Sport. Both girls cleared 1.55m with Alanah winning on countback. Ellie equalled her personal best for the second time in 10 days so both girls can look forward to the outdoor campaign with much optimism. Alanah who is also focussing on combined events in 2018 took the opportunity to compete in the shot and was delighted with a huge improvement on her old lifetime best when registering a putt of 7.43m for 2nd place, while Ellie took to the track to come close to her best in the 60m, clocking 8.93 sec in her heat.
Jess Townsend was also in action at the meeting, which was her second competitive outing of the year. The 2017 Northern track & field discus bronze medallist entered the under 17’s shot putt where her throw of 6.62 metres gave her a 4th place finish.
