Under 17’s and Under 20’s

‘Keepmoat Stadium’, Doncaster  –  Sunday 29th April 2018

The Kingston youth team made the short journey to Doncaster’s ‘Keepmoat’ stadium on Sunday the 29th of April, for their opening league match of the 2018 track & field season. This year their opposition came from Chesterfield and District AC, City of Sheffield & Dearne AC, Doncaster AC, Middlesbrough Mandale AC and Rotherham Harriers. They will contest three league matches and the top 3 in each Northern division will progress to a promotion final and the bottom 3 to a relegation match.  As always at Doncaster there was a strong wind which was blowing directly in the faces of athletes on the finishing straight. It was an under strength team that travelled to Doncaster as it was a bank holiday weekend with families going away and the match also clashed with the British Universities championships.

The match winners were Rotherham with 6 league points and 554 match points, 2nd were Middlesbrough with 5 and 554, 3rd Sheffield & Dearne with 4 and 520, 4th Doncaster with 3 and 451, 5th Chesterfield with 2 and 426 and 6th Kingston on 1 and 415.

Under 20 Men

David Morgan-Harrison and Adam Coles were in action in the 100 metres sprints, where David took 2nd place in the ‘A’ race running a time of 24.49 sec, and Adam was the 3rd place finisher in the ‘B’ with his run of 12.59 sec. In the 200 metres David again took 2nd place in the ‘A’ race with his run of 24.49 sec and Robert Tweedale was the winner of the ‘B’ with his season’s best run of 24.52 sec. Robert Tweedale also took a 2nd place finish in the 400 metres ‘A’ race running a time of 52.72 sec. The 800 metres saw Kyle Foster finishing 3rd in the ‘A’ race posting a time of 2:07.53 sec. The 110 metre hurdles race saw Adam Coles take victory in his first competitive run over the high hurdles and he established a PB 16.77 sec. Philip May was in competition in three of the field events, he took 2nd place in the triple jump ‘A’ with a season’s best effort of 11.10 metres, a 4th place finish was taken in the high jump ‘A’ where he went clear at his personal best height of 1.55 metres. He was in tandem with  Adam Coles in the long jump where Adam was the winner of the ‘A’ with his seasons best leap of 6.11 metres and Philip was the winner of the ‘B’ with 5.15 metres, which was also his season’s best.

Under 20 Women

The 100 and 200 metre sprints were covered by Hannah Kynman and Gabrielle Whittle. Hannah took 2nd place in the 100 metres ‘A’ running a season’s best time of 13.63 sec and Gabrielle was the 2nd place finisher in the ‘B’ and she ran a time of 14.09 sec. Gabrielle was the ‘A’ runner in the 200 metres taking 5th place in the race and posting a time of 28.54 sec, Hannah ran a season’s best time of 27.90 sec in the ‘B’ to take 2nd place. The 400 metres race saw training partners Natalie Varga and Bryony Underwood in competition, Natalie ran a season’s best time of 64.54 sec in the ‘A’ for a 4th place finish and Bryony took 3rd place in the ‘B’ running a new PB of 63.95 sec, a improvement of 0.36 of a second.

Heptathlete Venus Morgan took 2nd place in the 800 metres ‘A’ running a season’s best time of 2:35.64 sec. She ran also her first competitive 100 metre hurdles race, winning the ‘A’ and establishing a PB of 16.48 sec. Venus saw more action in the javelin ‘B’ taking 2nd place with a throw of 22.40 metres. Abbie Haigh took 2nd place in the long jump ‘A’ leaping to a new PB of 4.58 metres, a improvement of 10 centimetres. In the triple jump ‘A’ Rose Hewitt took 2nd place jumping a new PB of 9.14 metres, a improvement of 26 centimetres. Harriet Cannell took 2nd place in the javelin ‘A’ where she threw 28.95 metres and her season’s best throw of 14.86 metres in the discus ‘A’ saw her take 6th place.

Under 17 Men

Brody Hinson ran in the 100 and 200 metre sprints despite a hamstring problem which he has been coping with since January. In the 100 metres ‘A’ he took 3rd place running a time of 12.47 sec. Hurdler Sam Croney took 2nd place in the ‘B’ and he ran a season’s best time of 12.61 sec. In the 200 ‘A’ Brody took 6th place posting a time of 25.59 sec. Harry Hudson ran a season’s best time of 2:09.00 in the 800 metres ‘A’ for a 3rd place finish, whilst training partner Harvey Roberts who was running in his first 3000 metres race took 3rd place in the ‘A’ and established a PB of 10:18.79 sec. Sam Croney took 2nd place in the 100 metre hurdles ‘A’ running a season’s best time of 15.57 sec. UK number one Shaun Kerry was the winner of the hammer ‘A’ with a huge throw of 63.75 metres and he followed this up with two more victories, winning the shot putt ‘A’ with a throw of 12.99 metres and the javelin ‘A’ with 40.87 metres. Nathan Cuthbert competing in his first shot competition was the winner of the ‘B’ establishing a PB of 10.16 metres. He was also the winner of the javelin ‘B’ throwing a season’s best distance 38.15 metres.

Under 17 Women

The 100 metres sprint race saw Rose Hewitt taking 5th place in the ‘A’ where she ran a season’s best time of 13.92 sec. Alanah Thoresby was the winner of the ‘B’ running a time of 14.16 sec. In the 200 metres ‘A’ Rose Hewitt  ran a season’s best time of 28.80 sec to take a 3rd place finish, and Becky Chivers also took 3rd in the ‘B’ with her season’s best time of 29.98 sec. Becky was also the 5th place finisher in the 80 metres hurdles ‘A’ where she ran a time of 15.77 sec. Jodie Martin took 3rd place in the 300 metres ‘A’ running a season’s best time of 44.51 sec. Jodie was also in action in the 800 metres ‘A’ running a season’s best time of 2:23.89 sec for 3rd place. In the high jump ‘A’ Alanah Thoresby cleared a season’s best height of 1.55 metres to win the competition. Ellie Townsend was the winner of the ‘B’ going clear at 1.45 metres. Emily Dye took 2nd place in the long jump ‘A’ with a leap of 4.86 metres and Evie Watson was the winner of the ‘B’ with a season’s best jump of 4.60 metres. Evie was in further action in the triple jump ‘A’ where she was the winner of the event and posted a new PB of 10.17 metres a improvement of 83 centimetres. Abbie Haigh was the winner of the ‘B’ where she jumped a distance of 10.06 metres. Jess Townsend took 5th place in the shot ‘A’ with 6.38 metres and Becky Chivers won the javelin ‘A’ throwing 33.32 metres.

 

RELAYS

Under 20 Men – 4 x 100 Metres

The team consisting of Adam Coles, Kyle Foster, Philip May and Robert Tweedale finished in 2nd place and ran a time of 47.1 sec.

 

Under 20 men – 4 x 400 metres

The Kingston team of Robert Tweedale, Kyle Foster, Harvey Roberts and Harry Hudson took 2nd place and ran a time of 3:45.8 sec

 

Under 20 Women – 4 x 100 Metres

The Kingston foursome of Gabrielle Whittle, Venus Morgan, Hannah Kynman and Natalie Varga took 3rd place and posted a time of 54.35 sec.

 

Under 20 Women – 4 x 400 Metres

The Kingston quartet of Lucy Savery, Natalie Varga, Bryony Underwood and Becky Chivers were the winners of the race and they ran a time of 4:31.2 sec.

 

Under 17 Women – 4 x 100 Metres

The Kingston team of Rose Hewitt, Alanah Thoresby, Emily Dye and Ellie Townsend took 3rd place running a time of 54.0 sec.

 

 

 

NON SCORING RACES

Under 20 Women – 100 Metres

Ellie Townsend was the winner of the non scorers 100 metres and she ran a time of 15.33 sec.

 

Under 20 Women – 400 Metres

Lucy Savery ran her first 400 metres race at this meeting where she was the race winner and established a PB of 71.47 sec.
