‘Kingston Spring Open Meeting’
Costello Stadium, Hull – Sunday 14th April 2019
The annual Kingston Spring Open Meeting, was staged at the Costello Stadium, on Sunday 14 of April. As usual there was a big turnout of athletes, from all three of the Yorkshire Ridings, and the County of Lincolnshire. It was a chilly day, where competitors, officials, and spectators alike, all struggled to keep warm. There was a gusting wind, which changed direction during the course of the competition. Some athlete’s benefited from a tail wind, whilst others faced a headwind. The majority of them however encountered both, throughout the course of the day.
The Performances of all of Kingston athlete’s, are as follows.
Under 11 Boys
80 Metres Sprints
The competition consisted of two heats and a final. The winner of heat 2 was George Doyle, who ran a new PB of 11.98 sec, an improvement of 0.02. Making his club debut in heat 2, was Gilby Wright, who took 4th place in the race, establishing a PB of 14.00 sec. Both boys qualified to run in the final, where George Doyle took a 2nd place finish, setting a new PB of 11.72 sec, taking another 0.26, off his time in the heat. Gilby Wright took 7th place in the final, he also ran another new PB of 13.92 sec, clipping 0.08 off his heat time.
150 Metres Sprints
The 150 competition also comprised of two heats and a final. Making his Kingston debut, in the first heat was Hugo Gibbons. Who took 2nd place in the race, establishing a PB of 22.17 sec. George Doyle was also drawn to run in heat 1, and he was the 4th place finisher, running a new PB of 22.66 sec, an improvement of 0.34. Heat 2 saw Gilby Wright take a 3rd place finish, to establish another PB of 26.37 sec. Hugo Gibbons qualified to run in the final. Hugo was the winner of the 150 metre final, running a time of 22.18 sec, just one hundredth of a second outside his PB in the heat.
600 Metres Race
Lucas Starling took a 4th place finish in the 600 metres race, where he ran a new PB of 2:10.19 sec, an improvement of 5.51 sec.
Long Jump
Hugo Gibbons was the winner of the long jump, establishing a PB of 3.46 metres. 2nd place went to George Doyle, who leaped to a new PB of 3.42 metres, an improvement of 9cm. 5th place went to Lucas Starling, with his season’s best effort of 2.83 metres.
Under 11 Girls
80 Metres Sprints
There were three heats and a final, in the girl’s 80 metres competition. Four Kingston athletes, were drawn together in the first heat . Ruby Farr was the winner of the race, running a new PB of 12.68 sec, clipping half a second off her old time. Emilia Kitney took 2nd place, running a new PB of 12.82 sec, an improvement of 0.48. Making her club debut, was Charlotte Wilkinson, who took 3rd place in the race, establishing a PB of 12.86 sec. 5th place went to Amelia Fraser, with her run of 13.87 sec. In heat 2, Tilly Shaw-Hall took a 3rd place finish, and established a PB of 13.88 sec. Issy Gouldson took a 6th place finish, running a new PB of 14.57 sec, an improvement of 0.13 sec. In heat 3, Eliza Starling was the winner of the race, running a new PB of 12.63 sec, an improvement of 0.53 sec. Hollie Sutton, took 3rd place in the race, establishing a PB of 13.33 sec. Ruby Sleight took 4th place, running a new PB of 13.40 sec, an improvement of 0.21 sec. Another debutant Clemmie Wright, took 5th place and established a PB of 14.57 sec. In the 80 metres final Eliza Starling, was the race winner, running a new PB of 12.32 sec, an improvement of 0.84, on her heat time. 3rd place went to Ruby Farr, who ran a new PB of12.62 sec, an improvement of 0.06. Emilia Kitney took 4th, running a time of 13.03 sec. 5th place went to Charlotte Wilkinson, with her run of 13.10, with Hollie Sutton 6th, running a new PB of 13.27 sec, an improvement of 0.06.
150 Metres Sprints
There were two heats and a final in the 150 metres. Heat one saw Ruby Farr take a 2nd place finish, running a new PB of 23.94 sec, an improvement of 1.32 sec. 3rd place went to Charlotte Wilkinson, who ran a time of 25.38 sec. Amelia Fraser took 4th, with her run of 26.78 sec. 5th place went to Issy Gouldson, who established a PB of 28.37 sec. taking 6th place was Phoebe Moore, with her run of 31.65 sec. Debutant Amelia Davill took 7th place, establishing a PB of 34.22 sec. In heat 2, Ruby Sleight took 2nd place, running a new PB of 25.57 sec, an improvement of 0.11. Debutant Clemmie Wright, took 6th place, establishing a PB of 27.99 sec. There were four Kingston athletes in the 150 final. Ruby Farr took 3rd place, running a new PB of 23.82sec, clipping 0.12 off her old time. Charlotte Wilkinson took 4th, running a new PB of 25.38 sec, an improvement of 0.18. 6th place went to Ruby Sleight, with her run of 25.68 sec, with Amelia Fraser in 7th, with her season’s best run of 26.69 sec.
600 Metres Race
Megan Wright took 2nd place in the race, running a big new PB of 2:06.35 sec, slashing 9.25 seconds, off her old best mark. India Unsworth took 4th place with her run of 2:19.62 sec. Emilia Kitney was the 5th place finisher, running a time of 2:33.30 sec. Tilly Shaw-Hall also ran a big new PB of 2:33.37, slashing 8.06 seconds off her previous best time. Amelia Davill, finished in 11th place, establishing a PB of 2:47.91 sec.
Long Jump
Ruby Farr, leapt to her season’s best distance of 3.07 metres, for a 2nd place finish. 3rd place went to Eliza Starling, who jumped a new PB of 3.05 metres, an improvement of 31 centimetres. Tilly Shaw-Hall took 4th place, with a new PB of 2.85 metres, an improvement of 24 cm. India Unsworth was the 5th place finisher, jumping a new PB of 2.80 metres, a improvement of 46 cm. Amelia Fraser took 6th place, with her leap of 2.73 metres. 7th place went to Emilia Kitney, who established a PB of 2.70 metres. Phoebe Moore’s leap of 1.95 metres, saw her take 15th place. Issy Gouldson was 16th, jumping a new PB of 1.90 metres, an improvement of 8 cm.
Under 13 Boys
80 Metres Sprints
Tom Frost and Joe Noguera, were drawn to run in the first heat, of the 80 metre sprints. Tom took 4th place in the race, running a new PB of 12.23 sec, an improvement of 0.77 sec. Joe was the 5th place finisher, establishing a PB of 12.61 sec. In the 2nd heat Thomas Swift was the winner of the race, running his season’s best time of 11.94 sec. Owen Foster took 4th place, running a time of 12.02 sec. Tom, Thomas and Owen, all qualified to run in the final. In the 80 metres final, Owen Foster took 4th place, running a time of 12.02 sec, Thomas Swift was just a hundredth behind him in 5th with his run of 12.03 sec. Tom Frost took 6th place, running a new PB of 12.22 sec, an improvement of one hundredth.
800 Metres Race/High Jump
Max Wright was the winner of the 800 metres race, with his season’s best run of 2:38.40 sec. He saw further action in the high jump competition, where took a 2nd place finish, going clear at his season’s best height of 1.20 metres.
Long Jump
Thomas Swift took 2nd place, in the long jump competition, leaping to a new PB of 4.27 metres, an improvement of 46 cm. Tom Frost took 4th place, jumping a new PB of 4.11 metres, an improvement of 54 cm. Owen Foster took 5th place, establishing a PB of 3.88 metres.
Under 13 Girls
80 Metres Sprints
Chloe Sutton and Debutant Tigerlilly Khan, were drawn in the first heat of the 80 metres sprints. Chloe took 2nd place in the race, running a new PB of 12.06 sec, shaving 4/100ths, off her previous best. Tigerlilly took a 5th place finish, establishing a PB of 12.77 sec. In the second heat, Freya Vidal, was the race winner, running a new PB of 11.48 sec, taking 0.69 off her old time. Olivia Doyle took 3rd place in the race, running a new PB of 12.10 sec, an improvement of 0.59. Georgina Smales was the 6th place finisher, running her season’s best time of13.58 sec. Freya Vidal was the winner of the 80 metres sprint final, running a time of 11.59 sec. 2nd place went to Chloe Sutton, with her season’s best run of 12.16 sec, with Olivia Doyle in 7th place, running a time of 12.69 sec.
150 Metres Sprints
Olivia Doyle and Tigerlilly Khan, were drawn in heat 1 of the 150 metres. Olivia took 3rd place in the race running a PB of 22.69 sec. Tigerlily was the 5th place finisher, establishing a PB of 23.36 sec. Heat 2 saw Chloe Sutton, take 3rd place, with her season’s best run of 22.83 sec. Freya Vidal was the winner of heat 3 , running a new PB of 22.23 sec, an improvement of 0.17. Freya and Olivia qualified for the final. The 150 metres final saw Freya Vidal, take a 2nd place finish, running a new PB of 22.06 sec, shaving 0.17 off her time in the heats. Olivia Doyle took 5th place in the final, running a new PB of 22.48 sec, clipping 0.21 off her heat time.
1200 Metres Race
Lydia Greenwood competed in her first 1200 metres race, she took a 3rd place finish, and established a PB of 4:19.26 sec, for the 3 lap race.
Long Jump
Olivia Doyle was the 3rd place finisher, in the long jump competition, leaping to a new PB of 3.67 metres, an improvement of 2 cm.
Javelin
Ruby Watts, who was competing in only her second athletics competition,took on her first javelin event. She took a 9th place finish, and established a PB of 8.54 metres.
Under 15 Boys
100 Metres Sprint
Alfie Grafton, made his club debut, in the 100 metres sprint, where he took a 3rd place finish, establishing a PB of 13.41 sec.
Mixed Long Jump
Gabriel Li La-Vigars, took 2nd place in the long jump event, where he leapt to a new PB of 4.78 metres, an improvement of 29 cm. Lydia Moore took a 4th place finish, jumping to a new PB of 4.16 metres, an improvement of 17 cm.
Javelin Throw/Shot Putt/Hammer Throw
Alex Chivers, was the winner of the javelin event, throwing a new PB of 35.38 metres, an improvement of 7.24 metres. Gabriel Li La-Vigars took 2nd place, with his throw of 29.73 metres. Alex Chivers, picked up his second victory of the day, in the shot event, where he threw a new PB of 9.48 metres, an improvement of 1.07 metres. Gabriel Li La-Vigars, was the winner of the hammer event, throwing a new PB of 30.09 metres, an improvement of 67 centimetres.
Under 15 Girls
100 Metres Sprints
The 100 metres sprints consisted of 2 heats and a final. All five of the Kingston girls in the competition, were drawn to run in heat 1. Lois Richardson was the winner of the heat, running a new PB of 13.47 sec, an improvement of 0.93. Tilly Cairns took 2nd place, running her season’s best time 13.62 sec. Libby Hakney was 3rd, with her run of 13.85 sec. 5th place went to Lucy Parker, running a new PB of 14.25 sec an improvement of 0.15 sec. This was her first competitive race, since the summer of 2017, it was great to see her running again. Ella Frost was the 6th place finisher, running a new PB of 14.39 sec, an improvement of 0.65 sec. Four of the girls, Lois, Libby, Tilly and Lucy, qualified for the final. The winner of the 100 metres final, was Lois Richardson, running a time of 13.61 sec, Libby Hakney took 3rd place, with her season’s best run of 13.82 sec, 4th place went to Tilly Cairns, with her run of 13.85 sec, with Lucy Parker taking 5th in 14.33 sec.
200 Metres Sprints
The 200 metres was a straight final, 3 Kingston athletes ran in the race. Lois Richardson took 2nd place, running a new PB of 28.14 sec, an improvement of 1.44 sec. Tilly Cairns took 4th spot with her season’s best run of 28.62 sec. Libby Hackney was the 5th place finisher, with her run of 29.19 sec.
800 Metres Race
Emma Hoggard ran a season’s best time of 2:40.27 sec, to take a 4th place finish, in the 800 metres race.
1500 Metres Race
This was a senior women’s race, which included three under 15’s and an under 17, from Laura Egan’s training group. Under17, Hermione Pickering, took 6th place in the race, running her season’s best time of 5:19.30 sec. Georgina North, was the 7th place finisher, running a new PB of 5:27.43 sec, slashing a huge 24.02 seconds, off her previous best. 9th place, went to Amy Rothery, who also ran a new PB of 5:44.09 sec, chopping 15.42 sec, off her old time. Aimee Campbell took 10th place, running her season’s best time of 5:49.35 sec.
Shot Competition
Three Kingston athletes, were in action in the shot competition. Lois Richardson, who was competing in her first shot event, was the winner, establishing a PB of 8.54 metres. 3rd place went to Izzy Watts, with her throw of 8.28 metres. Lydia Moore was the 4th place finisher with her throw of 8.03 metres. There was also an under 14 girls shot, where Ruby Watts, established a PB 3.92 metres, for a 7th place finish.
Hammer Throw
Izzy Watts took 4th place in her first hammer competition, where she established a PB of 27.49 metres . Amy Rothery, took 7th place with her throw of 7.97 metres.
Javelin Throw
Izzy Watts, was the winner of the javelin competition, where she established a PB of 21.89 metres. Ruby Watts, finished in 9th position, and established a PB of 8.54 metres.
Discus Throw
Lydia Moore, was the winner of her first discus event, where she established a PB of 19.43 metres.
Under 17 Men
100 Metres Sprints
There were 2 heats, and a final, in the under 17 men’s 100 metres. Kingston’s Brody Hinson, Lewis Melling, and Divaldo Agostinho, were drawn in heat 1. Brody was the winner of the race, with his season’s best run, of 11.59 sec. Lewis took 2nd place, running a new PB of 12.26 sec, an improvement of 0.16. Divaldo, who has returned to the club this year, took 3rd place, in his first competitive race, since 2017, running a new PB of 12.32 sec, slashing 1.73 sec off his old best. Harvey Southcoat was drawn in heat 2, where he took 5th place, running a new PB of 13.00 sec, an improvement of 0.30. All 4 athletes, made the cut for the final. In the 100 metres final, Brody Hinson was the winner of the race, running a time of 11.97 sec, 5th place went to Lewis Melling, with his run of 12.48 sec, Divaldo Agostinho took 7th place, running a time of 12.54 sec, with Harvey Southcoat in 8th, running a time of 13.00 sec.
400 Metres
Callum Featherstone and Harvey Southcoat, ran in a mixed senior’s 400 metres race. Which saw Callum, take a 2nd place finish, running his season’s best time of 57.15 sec. Harvey took 5th place, running a time of 61.12 sec.
I00 Metres Hurdles
Jack Singleton took 2nd place in the 100 metres hurdles race, running a new PB of 15.52 sec, taking 0.78, off his old best mark.
Throws
Antony Mould, was the winner of the hammer competition, with his throw of 44.07 metres. Connor Pickering was the winner of the shot putt, with his throw of 10.63 metres. Connor was also in action, in the javelin event, where he took 2nd place, with his throw of 35.03 metres.
High Jump
Oliver Adnitt and Eve Anderson, were in competition, in a mixed high jump event, where Oliver took 2nd place, going clear, at a new PB height of 1.60 metres, an improvement of 5cm. Eve took 5th place, and she also went clear at a new PB height, of 1.45 metres, an increase of 7 cm.
Under 17 Women
100 Metres Sprints
Amelia Turnbull and Eve Anderson were drawn to run, in the first of the two 100 metres heats. Where Amelia took 3rd place in the race, running a time of 13.67 sec. Eve took 5th place, running a new PB of 14.38 sec, an improvement of 2.12 sec. Ellie Townsend ran in the second heat, taking a 3rd place finish, running her season’s best time of 14.25 sec. Amelia and Eve both qualified for the final. In the 100 metres final, Amelia Turnbull, took 4th place, running a new PB of 13.42 sec, taking 0.25 of a sec off her old time. Eve Anderson was the 5th place finisher, she also ran a new PB of 13.85 sec, an improvement of 2.12 seconds.
200 & 300 Metres Sprint Finals
Jodie Martin, was the winner of the 200 metres final, running her season’s best time of 27.15 sec. Emily Dye took 3rd place, running a new PB of 27.71 sec, slashing 1.11 sec off her old mark. Amelia Turnbull was the 4th place finisher, establishing a PB of 28.56 sec. The winner of the 300 metres sprint final, was Jodie Martin, who put in her season’s best run of 42.62 sec.
Mixed 800 Metres Race
Adam Fox was the winner of the mixed 800 race, where he ran a new PB of 2:06.04 sec, slashing 3.86 seconds off his old best. Training partner, Oliver Adnitt took 3rd place, he also ran a new PB of 2:10.25 sec, slashing 3.25 sec off his old time. Another training partner, Thomas Smales, took 4th place, running a new PB of 2:13.09 sec, chopping 6.23 sec off his previous best. 5th place went to Ella Shaw-Hall, who also ran a big new PB of 2:30.31 sec, taking 5.19 seconds off her old time.
80 Metres Hurdles
Rosie Shepherd took 2nd place in the 80 metre hurdles race, running her season’s best time of 13.44 sec. Emilia Russell was the 3rd place finisher, establishing a PB of 14.32 sec.
Long Jump
Emily Dye, took 2nd place in the long jump competition, putting in her season’s best leap of 4.89 metres. Ellie Townsend took 4th place , with her season’s best jump of 4.45 metres. 5th place went to Rosie Shepherd, who jumped a new PB of 4.35 metres, adding a centimetre to her old best. Amelia Turnbull was 6th , establishing a PB of 4.17 metres, with Eve Anderson in 8th place, jumping a new PB of 4.15 metres, adding 15 cm to her old mark.
Throws
Lucy Bailey-Dalton, was the winner of the shot event, where she threw a new PB of 9.65 metres, an improvement of 57 cm. Emilia Russell was the winner of the javelin competition, throwing a big new PB of 5.78 metres, an increase of 57 cm. Rosie Shepherd took 2nd place in the javelin, with her season’s best throw of 17.10 metres. Lucy Bailey-Dalton and Jess Townsend, competed in a senior women’s discus event. Jess took 2nd place, throwing a new PB of 26.80 metres, an improvement of 4 cm. Lucy was a 6th place finisher, with her season’s best throw of 15.83 metres.
Under 20’s
100 Metres Hurdles
Venus Morgan, was the winner of the women’s 100 metres hurdles, running her season’s best time of 14.80 sec.
Hammer Throw & Shot
Shaun Kerry, was the winner of the hammer competition, with his throw of 59.36 metres. He also won the shot event, with his throw of 13.13 metres.
Senior Men & Women
100 Metres Sprints
Joe Cooper, was the winner of the 100 metres race, running a season’s best time of 11.11 sec. Under 20, David Morgan-Harrison, took 2nd place in the race, running a new PB of 11.18 sec, an improvement of 0.09. 3rd place went to Adam Coles, with his season’s best run of 11.61 sec. The women’s competition consisted of two heats and a final. Chloe Constable and Venus Morgan, were drawn in the first heat, where Venus took 3rd place, running a time of 12.66 sec. Chloe took 5th place in the heat, running a new PB of 13.24 sec, an improvement of 4 hundredths. Megan Hoult was drawn in the second heat, where she was the race winner, running a time of 12.47 sec. All three women, qualified for the final. Megan Hoult was the winner of the 100 metres final, running her season’s best time of 12.25 sec. Venus Morgan took 3rd place, running a new PB of 12.54 sec, and Chloe Constable took 8th place, with her run of 13.38 sec. Megan also ran in the 200 metres final, taking 4th place, in her season’s best time of 26.38 sec. The men’s 200 metres race, saw Joe Cooper, complete the sprint double, running a season’s best time, of 22.68 sec. 2nd place went to David Morgan-Harrison, who ran a new PB of 22.70 sec, taking one second off his old time. Jack Singleton took 6th place, running a season’s best time, of27.19 sec.
400 Metres Race
In a mixed 400 race, Simon Downs was the race winner, running a new PB of 56.24 sec, slashing 3.35 minutes off his previous best. Becky Wilkinson took a 6th place finish, running her season’s best time of 64.26 sec.
5000 Metres Race
Gregan Clarkson took 3rd place in the 5K race, running a time of 17:19.67 sec. Alex Wilson was the 4th place finisher, with his run of 17:29.00 sec.
800 Metres Race
Jess Cappleman, took a 3rd place finish, in the women’s 800 metre race, running a season’s best time of 2:27.53 sec.
Long Jump
Adam Coles, was the winner of the senior men’s long jump, with his season’s best leap of 6.19 metres. James Wardle took 2nd place, with his season’s best effort of 5.82 metres. Two under 17’s, also competed in the event. Oliver Adnitt took 6th place, jumping a new PB of 4.89 metres, an improvement of 19 cm. Connor Pickering took 7th place, with his season’s best jump of 4.75 metres.
Hammer Throw
Peter Smith was the winner of men’s hammer, with his season’s best throw of 48.74 metres. John Twiddle took 2nd place, throwing his season’s best distance of 38.95 metres.
Shot & Discus
John Twiddle took 2nd place in the shot, with his throw of 11.83 metres. He followed this, with a 3rd place finish in the discus, with his season’s best throw of 34.60 metres. Sian Kerry was in action in the women’s shot, taking 3rd place, with her throw of 7.26 metres.
Javelin Throw
Becky Chivers, was the winner of the women’s javelin, where she threw her PB distance of 32.17 metres. Sian Kerry took 2nd place in the event, with her season’s best throw of 28.51 metres.
