Douglas Bedford Memorial Open Meeting

Thornes Park Stadium – Wakefield  

Saturday 14th September 2019

On Saturday the 14th of September, four Kingston Athletes, travelled to Thornes Park stadium, in Wakefield, to compete in the annual ‘Douglas Bedford’ open meeting.

Under 17 Josh Webster, has been training at Costello, since the middle of August. This meeting was his second competitive outing. He made his 100 metres debut appearance, and was drawn, to run in the opening race, where he took a 4th place finish, and established a PB of 13.06 sec. Further competition followed, in the long jump event, where his leap of 4.80 metres, gave him an 8th place finish.

Under 17 combined eventer, Oliver Adnitt , ran in the senior men’s 800 metres race, where he took a 4th place finish, running a new PB of 2:07.99 sec, clipping 0.30 sec, off his old time.

Under 17 thrower, Antony Mould, was in action in both the discus, and hammer events. Throwing the 1.75K discus, for the first time in competition, he took 2nd place, and established a PB of 28.59 metres. He also took 2nd place, in his first competitive throw with the 6K hammer, establishing another PB of 40.28metres.

Under 20 hammer thrower, Sarah Robinson, was the winner, of the senior women’s hammer competition, with her throw of 45.36 metres. She was also in action, in the senior women’s discus, where she took a 5th place finish, with her throw of 23.00 metres.
