Scunthorpe & District Annual Cross Country Meeting
Quibell Park, Scunthorpe – Sunday 10th November 2019
Kingston upon Hull AC, were represented by four female athletes, at the annual Scunthorpe, cross country open meeting, which was staged in the towns Quibell Park, on Sunday the 10th of November.
Under 11 Girls
2 Kilometres Race
9 year old India Unsworth, has been a member of the Kingston junior group, since November of 2018. She has been learning her trade, and this year has seen her competing in open meetings, and Humber track league fixtures. She was in action at Scunthorpe, in the under 11 girls two kilometres race, where she ran in a field of 13 athletes. She covered the course, running a time of 9:53 sec, which saw her win the bronze medal.
Under 13 Girls
2.7 Kilometres Race
Lydia Greenwood, has been a Kingston athlete, since the summer of 2017. The following year was spent, gaining experience, in the Humber track league, and at other open meetings. Her 2019 campaign, began in January, at the County cross country championships, at Barton, where she took 8th place, in a field of 25 athletes. March saw her make her major championship bow, running for the County, in the Inter County meeting, at Loughborough. The track & field season, saw her win the 800 metres silver medal, at the County Schools championships, and she also secured the bronze medal, at the County championships. She also competed for the junior team, in the UK YDL league fixtures, covering the 800 metres race, hurdles and javelin. She was in action in Quibell Park, in the under 13 girls 2.7 kilometres race, where she ran in a field of fourteen athletes, crossing the finish line, in 5th place, running a time of 11:28 sec.
Under 15 Girls
4 Kilometres Race
Training partners, Georgina North and Aimee Campbell, represented Kingston in the under 15 girls four kilometres race. Both girls, made their 2019 bows, back in January, Aimee at the County cross country championships, and Georgina, at the Barton cross country open. In March, the two girls gained call ups, to the County team, for the inter County cross country championships. Georgina also represented the County, at the English Schools cross country event. The track & field season, saw Georgina take the 1500 metres gold medal at the County schools championships, and she was also a 3000 metres finalist, at the County championships. Aimee was the 1500 metres silver medallist, at the County schools event, and she also gained a further call up to the County team, at the English schools cup final in Chelmsford, where she represented the team, in the 800 metres race, and the shot putt.
The cross country meeting at Scunthorpe, saw the two girls in direct competition, with each other, over the four kilometres course. Georgina North, navigated the course, in a time of 17:01 sec, to take the gold medal, the second athlete home was Aimee Campbell, who took the silver medal, with her run of 17:49 sec.
