Annual Awards and Presentation Night

Kingston’s annual awards and presentation night was held at Brantingham Park, the home of Hull Ionians Rugby Union Club, this was our third year at the venue. The hospitality and facilities were very impressive.

Awards are presented in every age group from 9 year olds in the junior training group’s right up to the clubs senior and international athletes. The award categories are sprints, hurdles, middle distance, distance and road, cross country, throwing events, jumping events and combined events. Selection criteria is based on an athlete’s individual performances during both the indoor and track & field season’s as well as performances in competition for the club in league matches in the UK Youth Development League and in the North of England track & field league.

In addition awards are also presented to the athletes who have put in the most outstanding performances at this year’s major championship meetings both Track & Field and Indoors. The winners of the major awards are as follows.

Best Performance at the National Championships

The winner of the award was Simon Downs, who is the reigning, British Masters Decathlon champion. 

Best Performance at the Northern Championships

The male award went to Shaun Kerry, who was the hammer gold medallist, and Shot silver medallist, at the track & field Championships. He also took the bronze medal in the shot, at the Northern indoor championships. The female winner was Holly Adams, who took both the discus and shot gold medals, at the track & field event, and was also the shot silver medallist, at the Northern indoor Championships.

Recognition of First International Vest

Two athletes had the honour of competing, at international level, at the ‘Manchester International match’, at the Sport City Stadium. Andrew Morgan-Harrison, was the winner of the 200 metres race, running a new PB of 20.96 sec, shaving 0.17 off his old mark. Also in action was Shaun Kerry, whose throw of 66.14 metres, saw him win the hammer competition.

Under 11’s

Sprints

The under11 boy’s award went to Keijimi Ashaolu, who is in his first season with Kingston. The winner of the girls award was Charlotte McKenzie, who is also in her debut year.

Middle Distance

Keijimi Ashaolu, and Charlotte McKenzie, both picked up their second awards of the evening.

Cross Country

Freya Everington, was the winner of the girls award.

Jumping

Hugo Gibbons, was the boys winner, Charlotte McKenzie collected her 3rd award.

Under 13’s

Sprints

Freya Vidal, was the winner of the girls award. The boys winner, was Noah Sibary

Hurdles

Lydia Greenwood, took the girls award, with Nathan Hope, picking up the boys trophy.

Middle Distance

Lydia Greenwood, collected her second trophy, as did Noah Sibary.

Cross Country

Emma Hoggard, was the winner of the girls award, Noah Sibary collected his third trophy.

Throwing

Matilda Wright, was the girl’s award winner, with Ben Russell taking the boys trophy.

Jumping

Owen Foster, was the winner of the boy’s award, and Emily Marshall took the girls trophy.

Under 15’s

Sprints

The girl’s award went to Elsa Thompson, Gabriel Li La-Vigars, took the boys award.

Hurdles

Beth Moodie, was the winner of the girls award.

Middle Distance

Finlay Southcoat, picked up the boy’s award, and Meabh Brannigan, was the girls winner.

Distance & Road

Georgina North, was the winner, of the girl’s award.

Cross Country

Hermione Pickering, collected the girl’s trophy, The boy’s award, went to Tom Smales.

Throwing

The girls award, saw Beth Moodie, collect her second trophy of the night, and Alex Chivers took the boy’s award.

Jumping

Gabriel Li La-Vigars and Beth Moodie, both collected their second awards of the night.

Combined Events

Izzy Watts, was the combined events award winner

Under 17’s

Sprints

Daisy Logan , was the winner of the women’s award. The men’s winner was Brody Hinson

Hurdles

Oliver Adnitt, collected the men’s trophy, with Daisy Logan, taking the women’s award.

Middle Distance

Jodie Martin, was the winner of the women’s award, and Harry Hudson, took the men’s trophy .

Distance & Road

Tom Smales, was the winner of the men’s award, with Jodie Martin, picking up her second trophy.

Cross Country

Jodie Martin, collected her third trophy of the night, whilst Harry Hudson, collected his second.

Throwing

Holly Adams, was the winner of the women’s award, Antony Mould took the men’s trophy.

Jumping

Oliver Adnitt, won his second trophy, and Alanah Thoresby, won the women’s award.

Combined Events

Heptathlete, Emilia Russell, was the winner of the women’s award, with Octathlete Oliver Adnitt, taking his third trophy, of the evening.

Under 20’s

Sprints

Venus Morgan, was the winner of the women’s trophy, and Josh Sampson won the men’s award.

Hurdles

Adam Coles, was the winner of the men’s award, and Venus Morgan collected her second trophy.

Middle Distance

Jess Fields, was the winner of the women’s award, with Alex Wilson taking the men’s trophy.

Distance & Road

Alex Wilson, collected his second trophy, picking up the distance and road award.

Cross Country

Alex Wilson, also won the cross country award, his third trophy of the night.

Throwing

Sarah Robinson, took the women’s trophy, with men’s award, going to Shaun Kerry.

Jumping

Abbie Haigh, was the women’s jumps champion, and the men’s award went to Adam Coles.

Seniors

Sprints

The women’s award, went to Megan Hoult, with Joe Cooper taking the men’s honours.

Hurdles

Sonia Santos, took the women’s title, with Simon Downs picking up the men’s award.

Middle Distance

Jess Cappleman, took the women’s title.

Cross Country

Gregan Clarkson, was the winner of the men’s award, the women’s trophy went to Jess Cappleman.

Throwing

Alice Barnsdale, was the winner of the women’s award, with John Twiddle, picking up the men’s title.                                                        J

Clare Blunt, was the winner of the women’s award, and James Wardle, was the men’s champion.
