The clue may be in the name but we are not just road runners: we train on the track at Costello and regularly go off road for hill training, our regular Winter League series of races and special trail running events.
At the heart of the road running section of the club, however, are the weekly club runs which offer the chance to run at distances from 4 to 8 miles, at varying paces and with the reassurance that every run has a named person whose job it is to ensure that no-one is ever left behind.
The road runners regularly spend Saturday mornings visiting parkruns across the region but with special attention to our home, Peter Pan park. This is where we meet most often; where our members tend to arrange to do their landmark milestone runs (50th, 100th etc); and where we congregate as a club a couple of times a year to handle all the duties - from pre-run chats and timing, to pacing other runners looking to complete their runs at anywhere between 20 and 40 minutes. The road runners welcome all ages – we have members aged from 16 to 76 – and all abilities.
If you want to improve your times in search of a PB, we can help: if you just want to turn up for a chat and a social run, you will be very welcome. All the local runs – Beverley10K, Deepdale Dash, Ferriby 10 and all the others – are well supported by our members and you will have plenty of support (and coaching if you need it) if one of them is your target for a first 10K or half-marathon. And don’t forget, we are a social as well as a running club with regular get-togethers whether it’s for a drink, a bar-b-q or to go bowling.
